Annie Lyrics

Watch her as she flew
Deep within the blue
A day out from the county I see you

There's nothing you can do
Someone gently says to you
The doctors says that now it won't be long

Try and live up to the moment
And I hope that I don't blow it
What is it in me that she hears
It's just a song she likes
Her little arms around my neck
And the dying girl whispers in my ear

Tell me now can you feel it
I've been keeping company with a ghost
She comes to me like a piece of summer
She comes to me on the days when I need it most
Summer dies and nothing lasts forever
You were so fine
The way you stand up to your fears
Summer dies and it's just moments we have together
I give my bones
For you to get a few more years
For you and me
Oh Annie
More in life than trying to survive
Oh Annie

My boyfriend took pictures of me as I held you
I travel alone
And the loneliness brings me to tears
The summer dies
And there's just moments we have together
I give my bones for you to get a few more years
For you and me
Oh Annie
More in life than trying to survive
Oh Annie

Stronger than the hands that hold you
Sing along to the song on the radio
If I drank too much, then I'll admit there's just
This once I to forget hold on and days gone by

Tell me now, can you feel it?
I can't keep this all to myself
She's elegant
And she needs me

Years for you and me
Oh Annie
More in life than trying to survive
Oh Annie

Watch her as she flew
Deep within the blue
Watch her as she slips away from you
I'll keep fingers crossed always for you

i went to her cncert d se said that: a lil girl with cancer was a huge fan and one time gave vanessa the tightest hug and started singing her songs into vanessas ear. she was very very touched so she wrote this song, the girls name was like victoria or veronica or something but she said annie sounded better haha. and i guess the girl wasnt suposed to live but vanessa saw her like a year later with hair this time :)

I was reading a review and they said that the song's tune greatly resembled The Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony". So, that's what you're probably thinking about, Mike. :)

Watch her as she flew deep within the blue The day out from the county ICU

*Obviously we see its about a girl who has a sickness so bad she's in the ICU, but has a day out.

There's nothing you can do Someone gently says to you The doctor says that now it won't be long

*That she's going to die soon, and no one can help.

I try and live up to the moment and I hope that I don't blow it And what is it in me that she hears? It's just a song she likes

*She wonders what the little girl sees in her songs thats so inspiring, and she meets her.

Her little arms around my neck And a dying girl whispers in my ear

*The little girl hugs her and again we have a reference that her sickness is terminal. The little girl sings lyrics in her ear.

Tell me now can you feel it? I've been keeping company with ghosts

*The little girl is dying, so she's basically hanging out with a ghost:/

She comes to me like a piece of summer She comes to me on the days when I need it most

*She's so thankful for her friendship with the little girl

Well summer dies and nothing lasts forever And you're so fine, the way you stand up to your fears

*The little girl inspires her

The summer dies and it's just moments we have together I'd give my bones for you to get a few more years For you and I, oh Annie More to life than trying to survive, oh Annie

*(favorite part!)She loves spending time with her, and just loves Annie so much that she'd be willing in an instant to be the one to transport bone marrow to save Annie's life.

My boyfriend took pictures of me as I held you

*Pretty obvious

I travel alone and the loneliness brings me to tears

*She misses her

The summer dies and it's just moments we have together I'd give my bones for you to get a few more years For you and I, oh Annie More to life than trying to survive, oh Annie

*Again.

Stronger than the hands that hold you You sing along to the song on to the radio

*She's so strong and courageous even though she's dying, and she sings songs on the radio

If I drank too much and I am wreckless Just this once would you forgive this

*When she makes mistakes all she can think about is how Annie would be disapointed, and asks her to forgive her for those mistakes.

And hold on, the days gone by Tell me now can you feel it?

*She's telling her to stay strong.

I can't keep this all to myself She's elegant and she means it

*It's killing her inside to see this beautiful little girl suffering and fighting

Years for you and I, oh Annie More to life than trying to survive, oh Annie

Watch her as she flew deep within the blue Watch her as she slips away from you I'll keep fingers crossed always for you

*When she leaves (or maybe Annie dies?) she won't forget her basically.

Such a wonderful song. And recently I found the meaning of it, which made me love it even more. Yes, the girl's name was Victoria and she inspired Vanessa to write this song. Her voice really shines with feeling in the special tune and it is so sweet.

It sounds so familar, I can hear the lyrics being sung, in my head, with a different voice. ::shrugs::
