Headless Cross Lyrics
Look through the people and on through the mist
To the hill of the headless cross,
Where all witches meet, on a night such as this
And the power of darkness is host
They come face to face, eye to eye, soul to soul,
With an angel that fell from the sky.
Borne on the air, lot of screams and the wails
Of the masses appointed to die.
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture,
At the headless cross, at the headless cross.
From the first evil night, when a black flash of light
Cut the crucifix half to the ground.
There's been no escape from the power of Satan.
On a nation so brave and so proud
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture,
At the headless cross, at the headless cross.
Ahahahohohoh Ahahahohohoh
Ahahahohohoh Ahahahohohoh
Ahhhhhhh...
How do ya feel when the locks refuse the key.
And the master is calling your name?
Does the luck of the charm, really keep you from harm?
Does the tallisman protect you from pain?
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture,
At the headless cross, at the headless cross.
From the first evil night. when a black flash of light
Cut the crucifix half to the ground.
There's no escaping from the power of Satan.

This is based on a true story that happened in the Middle Ages while the pestilence was going through Europe. In a small village called Headless Cross, the people went to the hill of the headless cross where they prayed to God for help. No one survived.
A very dark song, one which often sends shivers down my spine. Not only are the lyrics well written, but they perfectly match the song, which boasts some excellent guitar playing and very creepy, atmospheric keyboards. A great show of creativity by a band which most people had given up on at the time, and a great showcase for then-vocalist Tony Martin.
dude, its a myth, and the villiage wasnt called headless cross hahaaa,
Thats what Tony Martin (who wrote the song) said. I'm just quoting it.
I have heard it was something to do with tony and martin meeting a group of satanist or something like that in a hotel, in fact it is in one of their autobiogrophies if i member right, please don't quote me on this, let me find the book, (somewhere in the attic) and i give ya the source
There is a village called Headless Cross in the north of England to this day. In fact, tony martin lives near there!! Song is about the plague that ravaged the region. People though the deaths were to do with witchcraft etc.
Headless Cross is in the Midlands and the story of pestilence and plague is true. Plague came and they blamed people for being devil worshippers as we used 'headless crosses' to mark the boundry of church lands. Fights broke out to kill the non believers and then mass prayer to god for forgiveness and healing of which came none.
