Forget Her Lyrics
While this town is busy sleeping
All the noise died away
I walk the streets to stop my weeping
But she'll never change her ways
Don't fool yourself
She was heartache from the moment that you met her
My heart feels so still
As i try to find the will to forget her somehow
Oh i think i've forgotten her now
Her love is a rose, pale and dying
Dropping her petals and man I know
All full of wine, the world before her
Was sober with no place to go
Don't fool yourself
She was heartache from the moment that you met her
My heart is frozen still
As i try to find the will to forget her somehow
She's somewhere out there now
Oh my tears fall down as i tried to forget
Her love was a joke from the day that we met
All of the words all of her men
All of my pain when i think back to when
Remember her hair as it shone in the sun
It was there on the bed when i knew what she'd done
Tell yourself over and over you wont ever need her again
Don't fool yourself
She was heartache from the moment that you met her
Oh my heart is frozen still
As i try to find the will to forget her somehow
She's out there somewhere now
Oh
She was heartache from the day that i first met her
My heart is frozen still
As i try to find the will to forget you somehow
'Cause i know you're somewhere out there right now
All the noise died away
I walk the streets to stop my weeping
But she'll never change her ways
She was heartache from the moment that you met her
My heart feels so still
As i try to find the will to forget her somehow
Oh i think i've forgotten her now
Dropping her petals and man I know
All full of wine, the world before her
Was sober with no place to go
She was heartache from the moment that you met her
My heart is frozen still
As i try to find the will to forget her somehow
She's somewhere out there now
Her love was a joke from the day that we met
All of the words all of her men
All of my pain when i think back to when
Remember her hair as it shone in the sun
It was there on the bed when i knew what she'd done
Tell yourself over and over you wont ever need her again
She was heartache from the moment that you met her
Oh my heart is frozen still
As i try to find the will to forget her somehow
She's out there somewhere now
She was heartache from the day that i first met her
My heart is frozen still
As i try to find the will to forget you somehow
'Cause i know you're somewhere out there right now

This song is so sad. Its pretty staright forward in its meaning. Its a beautiful song and, theres really not much else to say except....I love You Jeff.
it's just so easy to relate to this song you know. no matter what the scale.
it was weird, when i first heard this song, i was having trouble deciding between two girls. one that loved me with everything, and then the one that had been so wrong for me before that i can just never get over. i swear i wouldn't keep this on repeat because i felt like jeff buckley was just here to narate my life. i think that's what hooks people to him, he's so good and getting his message deep into feeling, he knows what people go through and he knows the perfect way to put it.
Here's to You, Alexander; wherever You are.
these are the most amazing lyrics in a song. he's such a talented lyricist and for all those gay emo kids, jeff buckley is more emotional than taking back sunday or any of that crap. he's just real song writing, not polished pop-punk.
Awesome song! I gave mp3's of this to an ex of mine, when she asked me what type of music I like. I turned her into a Jeff Buckley fan. She thinks this is how I think of her, but it's not. We're still very good friends. The song is about loving someone who doesn't love you back. Like thinking you're in a serious relationship, only to find out it was just a fling. It's about the type of obsessive, unconditional puppy love a lot of young people feel.
Anyways, one thing to note, on the lyric "Her love is a rose, dead and dying" Dead things cannot die, seeing as how they're already dead. The real words are, "Her love is a rose, pale and dying" Turn your your volume up to the max, annoy your neighbors, kill your ears, and theirs too. It's such a strange song, because the poetry is so sad and the style is so sad, but the Jeff sings it is almost like it's a triumph or psuedo triumph. Also, Alicia Keys ripped this song off.
Jeff didn't want this song to be released as part of Grace album because it was too personal...some say he wrote this after he and Rebecca Moore broke up. Maybe Jeff realised that he still loved her and the song might hurt Moore. Seriously though, this song is full of angst and sadness...and yet very beautiful.
i can't believe no one's commented on this song! The last part is soo pretty and the "oh my tears fall down as i tried to forget.." this song is so amazing i think its about a woman that cheated on him and he knows that shes not good for him but he still can't get over her. Jeff is awesome.
I've heard a version thay begins "while this town's busy sleeping, and all the noise has died away"
This song is tragically beautiful. I'd agree that this song is about trying to forget someone you love, because they're no good for you.
great song. I love it.
i love this song...it's frickin' amazing...it isn't on any official release. it is only available bootlegged on kazaa or another file sharing service. it was supposed to be on grace but jeff decided not to include it on the album(from the Dream Brother book)...so you have to download it from someone else to get it
