hes going through what i am. when you love someome but you just know that your sharing them because they love someone else. that other person doesnt feel the same way about them but that doent stop them loving them, it can really hurt to be second best and to feel like the other person will never love you as much as you love them because all that that other person can think about is how in love they are wiht someone else

This song is EXACTLY what i'm going through.. This is how I see the song.

You are with someone who DOES cares about you, but he or she really doesn't know what she wants, because things in her life (Whether it means someone else or other things) are either not letting her, or conflicting with what she wants. For example, an ex love in this situation.. Not letting go when they need to to move on.

And for those that have been in that situation, when you are so in Love with someone, you can't "Handshake" the rest of your life away.. it gets to a point where it hurts so bad that you aren't with that person and being friends hurts, you have to tell them, it's all or nothing.. It's selfish, but sometimes when the person isn't attempting to work things through, you might have to move on..

Which leaves what Russell was asking.. What that line basically means is the general concept of fighting an already lost battle. If this person isn't fighting to get through what they need to get through to be happy, you can't fight with them.. It's a joint thing..

i love this song so much, im in love with this guy dan but am going out with a different boy..he knows how i feel about dan and this is how he feels..when dans on my mind i have that distant look on my mind and my bf is basically sharing me with my memories of dan..what to do!

SIGH omg. I used to be obsessed with this song when i was in grade 9 only because i was totally in love with ashley and erick from the group LOL. But i was listening to it last night, and i realized how sad it all was....because i am in that situation. But from both sides (how retarded it that). I was going out with my boyfriend for almost 3 years, but things were really rocky with us,,,and for the last year, i started liking my best friend (who is a guy too lol). I tried to deny it but it was so hard because i saw him more than i saw my boyfriend. I couldn't handle it any longer, and when i found out that my friend liked me too, i knew that things just had to end for me and my boyfriend..so i broke up with him. So in that aspect, i know how it feels to be the girl who is thinking about that other guy with that "distant look in my eye". But now, my friend...we kinda got together, but there is a past to him too. He was in love with this other girl (so he says) but she hurt him too much. So they just stopped whatever it is they had. but after a few weeks with our thing, it was just getting really weird, and we both started to feel guilty. Later on...he told me that he knew that as soon as his "love" came back from holidays, he would be crazy about her again.

I don't know if he still likes me or not, but i love him so much as a best friend, cuz he is awesome....the crappy thing is that i know he thinks about her, and he really likes her...and yeah, it does suck being in second place.

This is such a great song, Basicly she is just having troubles letting go of a past relationship and he can't take bein second best all the time. I thinkl every1 will go through it at some stage but just giv the person time and they will come around like in the end of the video!!

this song has so much meanin to me.it is my ex andrew and my song together.u see this story is COMPLICATED.um i was inloved with this guy for like 4 yrs and he was abusive and always messing with my head so i tried to leave him .i started goin out with richie.richie was just not for me.so i started cheatin on richie but in love with the other guy who abused me.ok so now i knew neither one of the 2 guys were right for me.so i ended up cheating on richie with andrew.i knew andrew a long time and thought of him as kinda dorky.lol but he turned out to be the most amazing person ever.so then i was cheating on richie in love with some one who was abusive but totally digging andrew.the way this song came about was it was brand new and andrew didnt care if richie was around and he would drive behind our car and jump out of the car and sing to me on his knees on red lights in the middle of the streets.lolwell i fell in love with him.i also mistreated him and now im fightin for him.he is with someone else right now which sucks.i am in total utterly love with andrew and want him to marry me one day.this is our song.i have ended my search for the love if my life.so u guys wanna help get him back let me know
