Engine Heart Lyrics

Be still my heart
Engine turning over won't you start?
This one's come to tear me all apart
Be still my heart

Just read those eyes
Trembling lips and carburetor sighs
Even though i know they're telling lies
Be still my heart

Oh, were it to stop
My tick tock, tick tock clock
Oh, were it to stop
Beat beat beat
Beat beat beat
Sleep sleep sleep
Sleep

Oh how i've grown soft
Running through so soft
I'll just dry right off
Cut me, smash me
Strain me, eat me
Apple, apple sauce

Oh what does it mean
Up on the marquee
Bright lights telling me
Don't forget
Don't forget
Don't forget
Don't forget:

Be still my heart
Engine turning over won't you start
This one's come to tear me all apart
Be still my heart

Just read those eyes
Trembling lips and carburetor thighs
Even though i know they're telling lies
Be still my heart
Be still my heart
Be still my heart

i do think the apple sauce part is very cute :) this whole song is a very well thought out metaphor and very clever

How does this song have no comments? If I made a movie I would put this song in it. It's so cute and floaty.

apple-fetish, much????

i think this song is falling someone who you know is going to just break your heart but you just can't help yourself but feel the need for them

"Oh what does it mean Up on the marquee Bright lights telling me Don't forget Don't forget Don't forget Don't forget" ^^^^ i think this verse suggests that she may have been with this person before and they've broken her heart and she knows she shouldn't get back with them but her heart's been longing for it

I agree with digitallove.

I think this song is about person A who likes person B, despite the fact that A knows B is not a very good person and, specifically, not good for A. A is falling for B even though B is all wrong for A and A knows it ("this one's come to tear me all apart").

A is reading B's gestures and body language ("just read those eyes, trembling lips, and carburator sighs/thighs") and can't control the crush "even though [A] know[s] they're telling lies." A wants to stop liking B and begs his/her heart to "be still."

A also notes that s/he's "grown soft" - s/he probably never stood around for the shit and lies that B is feeding A in the past, but now s/he's taking it. And the feelings A has for B are so strong; A feels B can use A whichever way s/he'd like ("cut me, smash me, strain me, eat me") - A is like apple sauce: fluid and weak, unable to be strong against B.

I think the "don't forget" part is A reminding him/herself to be strong and remember that B is full of lies, reminding him/herself to "be still."

I think the apple sauce verse is symbolic of how one feels when one is liking someone and can't control it or surrendering to the fact that the person she likes is inevitably going to hurt her. I'm not sure which yet.

song makes me wanna break into a dance, about running from falling into relationships that one knows better than to fall into.

The lyrics are pretty sad, with such an up-beat tune. I love the metaphor of the carburetor singing, it's beautiful.
