A thousand fires burn out of control
And no one's ever there
To see them
We're dyin of thirst our voice is lost
From all this screaming
I came down in a lonely state
And now everyone is leaving
Our souls so charred beyond recognition
And I'm trying to find the reason
Yeah

There's a widow at my front door
She said she heard that I was freezin
They said she's done time
But no one said she's done time for treason
They say she don't take anything from anyone
Which ain't worth giving
I say I don't give anything to anyone which ain't worth stealing
Yeah

Hey you
Did you come to fight
Have you come to the rescue
Hey you
Did you come to watch
Have you come to ridicule

Everything's gotten so far out of hand
There's not much that we could do
Hey you
Did you come to fight
Have you come to the rescue

The city is falling apart
And the clouds and the earth have started bleeding
You just stand around like you don't understand
What it is you're seeing
Time stands still like a broken clock
When our life is so deceiving
You got close once before
And now you're only dreaming

Hey you
Did you come to fight
Have you come to the rescue
Hey you
Did you come to die
Did you come to be ridiculed

Everyone's gotten so bent out of shape
There's not much that we can do
Hey you
Have you come to fight
Have you come to the rescue

I ain't waiting for the proof
And I ain't waiting for the future
I've seen too many signs now
And everyone was wrong
I'm just waking up the truth
And I ain't waiting round for you

Hey you
Did you come to fight
Have you come to the rescue
Hey you
Did you come to watch
Did you come to ridicule

Everything's gotten so far out of hand
They say there's not much that we could do
Hey you
Did you come to fight
Have you come to the rescue
Yeah

This song tells me about a man who is afraid to love. A good woman comes along, but, to him, she's just like the rest. He can't take the chance again.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
