Out of the Blue Lyrics

A new beginning a new chapter of my life
Started the day when I thought it could be my last
My eyes where wide shut but I hadn't given up
Just thought I'd be walking the world alone

Out of the blue there I met you
Showed me a life I can't see without you and there's just no way
That I can fight these emotions your energy running through me
Nobody can renew me like you
Out of the blue
Can this be true?

Family and friends they were my life I wasn't one for butterflies
But you give me love that I can't disguise
There will be times when we're apart I want you to know you're in my heart
Growing into a beautiful garden

No emotions my whole body felt like ice
Needed to feel that the sun would shine my way
My world had turned to dust but I had my faith and trust
Just thought I'd be walking the world alone

Family and friends they were my life I wasn't one for butterflies
But you give me love that I can't disguise
There will be times when we're apart I want you to know you're in my heart
Growing into a beautiful garden

Out of the blue
There I met you
I can't believe that this happened so soon
And there's just no way that I can fight these emotions
Your energy running through me..

ObsceneFairy that is such a horrible thing to say! seriously i dont see how you could say that about someone. this song isnt about mark she has said it so many times!, its just about 'someone coming into your life and bringing you out of the blue into a special place' as she has said in a track by Track

ObsceneFairy - you are wrong on so many points here. Delta has not, as you described "exploited the cancer for all its worth". As with most celebrities who have an illness, including, cancer - they use their fame to promote support and awareness for certain charities or illness sufferers. This is what Delta has done. She has NOT sold her story to every magazine she can find, only very few. And she is not "pumping the public for sympathy". She is a celebrity - meaning she is out there in the public eye. If your favourite star was ill, of course you would feel sorry for them. Delta did not ask for sympathy, the public willingly gave it to her. Anyone who goes through something like cancer, and lives to tell the tale is brave. Obviously you just don't know what it's like. But then again, that's not such a big loss to society.

Regarding the song, the lyrics are so beautiful, and it's easy to see that they relate both to Delta's cancer and her relationships. However, she has said herself that to every person who hears the song, it means something different - everyone can take it in their own way. Definitely one of my favourites.

its such a beautiful analogy for cancer at the start. She's so brave!

I agree anti magnet, i may be wrong but i think deltas battle against cancer inspired this song, maybe how she found religion/god to help her through? ("showed me a life i cant see without you"/"i had my faith and trust") It could also be about finding love when you least expect it, but woteva its a gr8 song!

the song is primarily about her finding love during a time when she thought it wasnt possible. She was going through a struggle with cancer, and feeling like crap, and then someone comes in who turns it all around and helps her through. Awwww....

I have my own theory about the line "I wasn't one for butterflies", is she attracted to women? I have no idea if this is true but she mentions butterflies so many times in her songs, and are they supposed to be a symbol for woman? like butterfly=woman? later in "extraordinary day" the line "madame butterfly" another indication of the symbolism. is it possible that the love she has found is with a woman? again its just a theory lol.

In this song I think that when she says butterflies she's reffering to either: Butterflies and their beauty, comparing htem to the beauty she saw in Mark Phillipousis or Butterflies, as in, getting butterlfies in your stomach from meeting someone you either like or love. But this song is widely acknowledged as being about Mark and even though Deltas music isn't really my thing, I was annoyed when he cheated on her with Paris Hilton. It's an okay song but it's really starting to get on my nerves.

Taken from Delta’s track by track commentary on bonus DVD, Delta Goodrem – Mistaken Identity, Sony Music (Australia), 2004.

“We did a really big production because … I wanted to go big and it’s got trumpets in it and it’s got a huge chorus but I just um I still feel it’s a really relatable track about someone coming into your life and bringing you out of the blue into a special place”

It is widely known that this song is about Delta’s relationship with Mark Philippousis.

I'm sure Delta's kicking herself now that the relationship is over and everyone knows it's about mark! Nice song though...
