Godhopping Lyrics

I've found so many people like to smile a lot
Smile a lot 'cause they're having so much fun
Even when they know they're not

They'll wear some tiny little hat and they'll feel good
They'll feel good 'cause their hat is silly
And silly means that their time is good

I've learnt that indecision only brings no joy
So much joy to a fickle little world
That every night I do TV, flim myself CCTV
And there's panic on the street when it's not around

So we go to
All the traffic and children
Live far away
On the back of a big bus all the way to Bombay
When they go I am with them
But it won't be long
Godhopping for good times
When everything starts to go wrong

Powder cake they wear their makeup veils
Veils that hide them underneath such sweaty perfume smells

High-heeled they are always looking down
Down their confidence is struggling hard to get around

I've learnt that indecision only brings no joy
So much joy to a fickle little world
That every night I do TV, flim myself CCTV
And there's panic on the street when it's not around

So we go to
All the traffic and children
Live far away
On the back of a big bus all the way to Bombay
When they go I am with them
But it won't be long
Godhopping for good times
When everything starts to go wrong

does ANYONE have any ideas cos i'm drawing a blank. all i can think of is that it's about the false fronts that people put up (see references to makeup and hats (reference to fashion?) etc). the chorus has me totally lost, though. anyway, brilliant song.

I think it's about the false fronts people put on too. Specifically how people go along with things to "have a good time" and go with the flow, even when really, it's not truly them. The chorus has me stumbling though!

the songs about life and society these days. but it also means nothing, in the sense thats its saying that all we do is nothing, we are wasting our lives but that theres not much better to do with it anyways.

"godhopping": refers to the people who try new religions to try to find something that will "renew" them. i think the party about "silly hats" may be about casual sex.

the part i found most intersting about this song is the chorus. read every other line and there you have the meaning, (or do you?):

  1. So we go to live far away, when they go i am with them, godhopping for good times.
  2. All the traffic and children on the back of a big bus all the way to Bombay, but it wont be long when everything starts to go wrong.

the chorus is the "answer" to the "problems with society"

  1. escape from it all, find yourself
  2. send all your troubles far away, but it wont be long until you realize that this wont be the cure.

there is no answer. that is what i think the songs about.

This song is about the things people do to feel happy.

The chorus makes me think that the people are addicted to CCTV, and that makes them happy. Leads me to think they are addicted to it, probably a fashion network, it would make sence, to me anyway.

This song doesn't mean anything. Craig Macintosh said in an interview: "While I'm not entirely sure what the lyrics [of 'Godhopping'] are actually about," he explains, "I was reading the book by the director of 'Donnie Darko' [Richard Kelly], and he said he'd been asked many times what its about, and he said "I don't know what its about, but I understand it." I think that's how I'm going to sum up every song I ever write." [http://www.xfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=23540] It means nothing. Great song though.

Like ddarko said, a lot of artist write about nothing because it sounds cool ("Pinback" for instance), then people like us go "what does it mean guys?!?" Groovy song though. The only word I could remember distinctly was bombay.

I've no idea what the song is about, but I can't get enough of it.. Top name for the band as well..

"I don't know what its about, but I understand it," doesn't mean that the song is about nothing. Music is an outlet for expression. Don't expect every song to be broken down into a logically worded format that will make sense to everyone. If they could explain what they were trying to say in an essay, then they probably wouldn't have written the song. Take it for what it is.
