Feed Me to the Forest Lyrics

These hot machine years burning time across your face
See the smoke stacks rising up like fuck you towers?
My girlfriend sang like a hummingbird today
until that cough stole her voice and fed it to the furnance.

Shrew laugh, trench throat..
There's a party on the 16th floor.
this apartments paper thin walls....
you know your neighbors sobs by heart.
Tight coil, cold grin...
Highways wrapped around my body like a snake.
Got a view of a cement lawn, amputated horizons.
Thanks for the survival rags.
thanks for the soiled skies.
thanks for the fucked up future.
We can learn to love misery.
Was it just last night
that I woke up to a snarling baby?
Did I hear it right?
He begged his mother, Feed me to the forest!

The factory is singing us to sleepless beds tonight.
Lungs like twin garbage sacks sucking charcoal breath tonight.
Sick squeal, dull moan...
Looks like your neighbors found another victim.
Screams Help but no one comes.
honey won't you turn the TV on?
Brown summer, stench wind...
the globe spinning on a rusty hinge.
Get in your car go to your job
like a train that's being robbed.

i love that line.

We're killing the Earth. Pollution is a problem. Industry is taking over. Not really much more we need to say about that one. "Get in your car. Go to your job. Like a train that's being robbed." Be more environment conscience.. Take the train--Rather than driving your car.

i think you're right about the meaning of the song in general, but you misinterpreted the line. the line suggests that even though we are killing the earth with pollution and stuff, that we don't care and we just go to work like clockwork in our cars.

i agree with shififty five, but i think this song is about desensitization in general.

"Sick squeal, dull moan... Looks like your neighbors found another victim. Screams Help but no one comes. honey won't you turn the TV on?"

if that isn't a sufficent example i dont know what is.

It reminds me of how after the World Trade Center got leveled, my school didn't decide to cancel class or homework or anything. We just kept on trucking so as not to miss our academic standards or something. And it was like, is a few thousand people getting sneak-incinerated not a good enough reason to give the kids a break? I guess not. The song just seems to be about how nothing means enough for us to stop and think about it anymore, we seem to think we have to keep moving like cogs.

i really like this line. am i right in thinking that the baby wants to return to nature, and leave the stark, pollution clogged envoronment we've created for him?

Cover art for Feed Me to the Forest lyrics by Blood Brothers, The

The snarling baby represents an all-around lack of innocence in our industrialized world.

Cover art for Feed Me to the Forest lyrics by Blood Brothers, The

It's ignorance of other people, and the state of the earth. Pollution-wise that is.

i thought instead of "screams help but no one comes" he was saying "skinny as hell but no one cares" which makes sense.... he could be a cokehead or a tweaker or a junkie but nobody pays attention to it

That's weird. I thought he was saying the same thing. Even if the lyrics are right, I'll always think he's saying 'skinny as hell but no one cares'
