The Cowboy Rides Away Lyrics
I knew the stakes were high right from the start.
And when she dealt the cards, I dealt my heart.
Now I just found a game that I can't play.
This is where the cowboy rides away.
And my heart is sinking like the setting sun.
Setting on the things I wish I'd done.
It's time to say goodbye to yesterday.
This is where the cowboy rides away.
We've been in and out of love and in between.
And now we play the final showdown scene.
As the credits roll, a sad song starts to play.
And this is where the cowboy rides away.
And my heart is sinking like the setting sun.
Setting on the things I wish I'd done.
Oh, the last goodbye's the hardest one to say.
And this is where the cowboy rides away.
Oh, the last goodbye's the hardest one to say.
And this is where the cowboy rides away.
And when she dealt the cards, I dealt my heart.
Now I just found a game that I can't play.
This is where the cowboy rides away.
Setting on the things I wish I'd done.
It's time to say goodbye to yesterday.
This is where the cowboy rides away.
And now we play the final showdown scene.
As the credits roll, a sad song starts to play.
And this is where the cowboy rides away.
Setting on the things I wish I'd done.
Oh, the last goodbye's the hardest one to say.
And this is where the cowboy rides away.
And this is where the cowboy rides away.

Its crazy how this song is wrapping up his last tour of his life/career and its a pretty fitting song. George Strait is a real cowboy, hes not just wearing those Wranglers for endourcements. Hes a Team Roper, and a pretty darn good one might i add.
This could apply to so many kinds of endings. "This is where the cowboy rides away" seems to say "this is the time" or know when to say "enough". This is the end. Endings are often sad, but necessary. It's all about when to say when.
