When It Comes Lyrics
I study up my hollow
Piece of wood to follow
A day that doesn't come
To the lucky
And I realize there's tomorrow
But I would rather wallow
In the rain then moods that seem
So pot-lucky
Well I'm cruising El Paseo
In my off-white coup back ‘65
Or I'm cruisin down my own street
And my hooptie says to me
You better hang on to your bench seat
I'm gonna take you for a ride
And I'll let you know
When it comes, when it comes
I'll let you know
But don't stay up for me
Don't wait up for me
If I'm not home
So I wait for fate to find me
A ball of string unwind me
Uncomfortable as a centerfold
And I realize your behind me
To help and humankind me
To see my songs can be retold
Well I'll be gone tomorrow
Yes I'm on the road tomorrow
So next time that I see you in school
It won't be for too long
And I'll let you know
When it comes, when it comes
I'll let you know
But don't stay up for me
Don't wait up for me
If I'm not home
And I want a leather jacket
But only if I have the time
Well, I'll comb my hair like Elvis
And grab an old Gretch 59
And you'd hardly recognize me if you
Saw me from behind
And I'll let you know
When it comes, when it comes
I'll let you know
And I'll let you know
When it comes
Just when it comes
I'll let you know
But don't stay up for me
Don't wait up for me
If I'm not home
And I'll let you know
I'll let you know
Well I'll let you know
Piece of wood to follow
A day that doesn't come
To the lucky
But I would rather wallow
In the rain then moods that seem
So pot-lucky
In my off-white coup back ‘65
Or I'm cruisin down my own street

Don't wait up for me
If I'm not home
A ball of string unwind me
Uncomfortable as a centerfold

To see my songs can be retold
Yes I'm on the road tomorrow

When it comes
Just when it comes
I'll let you know

I'll let you know
Well I'll let you know

welll yes, a hooptie is a car. i'm tyler's cousin (believe it or not) and i'm pretty sure his song is about making it in the business and how he'll do anything for it, so not to worry because he's got it handled. it's not dirty, i know that for sure. haha.
Say hello to Tyler Hilton. Get to know his face, his name, his music. His first single off "The Tracks of" is an awesome mainstream debut for Hilton. Who, at the ripe age of 20 is making waves with his blend of folk, blues, country, and rock as influenced by his love of BB King and Elvis. This song in particular is a modern classic.
Memorable lines:
So I wait for fate to find me A ball of string unwind me Uncomfortable as a centerfold
And I realize your behind me To help and humankind me To see my songs can be retold
It's an AWESOME SONG!
I'm just a little confused.. Is this song supposed to be dirty.. or do I just have a sick mind?
Okay, I know some people might say this song sounds dirty, but I don't think so. I think he's a musician waiting on his career to take off, "I study up my hollow piece of wood to follow," and he's telling his "hooptie" (friend or girlfriend) he appreciates them standing behind him, and when the hard work pays off and he does finally hit it big, he'll let them know "when it comes."
i love this song!! he sounds soooo hott when he sings!!!
Um... A "hooptie" is a car.
i love tyler hilton! he's definitely a diamond in the rough =)
I think he's trying to make it sound dirty, but it's not. He's relating being exposed to someone, fearing the failure, to being exposed to the world, through his music, and fearing the failure. He knows that there's tomorrow, but he also knows it's all about luck, he wants to try and get lucky today rather then wait til tomorrow. Anyway, it's probably nothing like that at all, but I think it's a great song. I Love Tyler Hilton.x

“When It Comes" is talking about trying to be patient and instill patience in those around you while you're growing and learning. Specifically, it's saying to everyone who was wondering when I was gonna "make it" just 'cause I played guitar and sang in high school to chill and that they'd know if and when it happened so to just enjoy the stage I'm at meanwhile. It was to family, friends, and me.
