I think a lot of this song is also about being misunderstood.
it sorta seems like the song's about basic depression. This can be seen in the second verse: Cause this is not my day, and nobody really cares, anymore anyhow, nobody called again, cause they said i'm too lazy. Y'see?
I think it is about being depressed, but he sees hope in a certain someone. When everything seems hopeless he "can't forget about a world where every beam [he] chooses is shining alone on you"
