this song is about ignoring something that bothers you (the natural disaster). It could be a messed up relationship, bad grades, social problems, anything thing that ails you. And then comforting yourself (the cake and wine) to help forget about the problems that you probably shouldnt be ignoring.
I think its about ignoring/leaving your responsibilities and as your consistently neglecting your responsibilities it still catches up to you anyways (the natural disaster)

@MasonMalice i like this interpretation a lot, id like to think of it as this song being about running away from your problems or sweeping it under a mat. i initially assumed this was about a relationship thats been falling apart/out of love but both parties decided to ignore the elephant in the room, "we keep the conversation clean and dry" and "for the cut of cake for the steak and wine" to me these alludes to a date and just hits really hard honestly (projecting lol)

i do also like the interpretation of this being about a loss of a family member and the song illustrates the scene of being in a family gathering trying to dance around the topic and trying not to bring up someone who was very impactful to all of them. i just love how both scenarios still paints the message of ignoring and neglecting something that bothers you a lot, they cooked hard with this song
I thought It ment something about the government or someone getting a high rank in the gov, and not caring abt the ppl anymore. I love this song as well...I LOVE THE BAND!!! THEY ARE FUCKING HOT!!!! Seems like this song is about a natural disaster that led to the loss of a family member...each family member has been through so many emotions ..all possible emotions that there's no more of them left to show.
