I'm surprised no-one has commented on this song- Unearth are incredible and this song is awesome. I think it could be about the war on iraq- "invade with foul fingers" "they say some are born with a blackened heart, fell to the curse of a bastard life" could be unearth's view on the american government's view on the citizens of iraq.
Actually, it's about the sin of war and the evil in humans in general. The entire album is.
Agree with others that is about the "evils" of war, and probably more so the motives for war (e.g. greed, lust, point of differences). In other words we lie to ourselves (and they lie to everyone) about the true motives behind war.
For example, we thought the Vietnam War was "right" to stop the spread of Communism and to protect the Democracy of South Vietnamese. But really it was an ideological war being waged between the USA and Russia with each hoping to show that their "system" is best. We lie to ourselves though to make the war seem "right".
