Travel By Bloodline Lyrics

Did you listen to his stories
He had some stories that would change your life
This doesn't have to be the saddest day
We can always hold the brilliant memories
You're always on my mind
Turned from Tragedy
A source to draw from
A bloodline legacy

You showed me more than just these railways
It was your passion, and I learned that well
And forever, I'll keep your bloodline legacy
And you're always on my mind

This photograph, I'll carry to my grave
I never lost so much as I did that day

I miss you

I think this is about Jims grandpa.

yah i agree, seems pretty evident. Grandpa's always have stories to tell....Jim is gonna keep his blood flowing through the family.

Well, the grandpa theory does make sense, but the line "a source to draw from" leads me to believe that its something which more inspired the music. I believe Jim Ward said that the death of his cousin, Jeremy Ward, member of the Mars Volta, was a source of inspiration for this album. I always thought the song was about his loss.

yup its about his grandfather...i heard an interview with the guys and they clearly stated that this song is about Jims grandfather. great song and he sings it with passion coz this song is ladden with personal meaning.

yep, definitely about Jim's grandfather....I saw them live when this album came out, and he said so right before they played this song. But I agree with Razin, too-Porcelain does have themes on loss, so some songs/lyircs were probably inspired by jeremy, too.
