We Are The Storm Lyrics
Well they said we'd tear ourselves apart
and it turns out they were right 'cause I've never seen you so weak
weak and so far out of breath and I never saw the tide rise
so high so fast
watch
this pawn capture the queen
white
picket drive-by
gargle
gargle the stench the storm brings
you'll never get enough
watch
this pawn capture the queen
now I can't shake you
but I
I can't take you
empty skin bag you're my cum rag
and now the flood gates overflow
now I see
that too much is not enough
no
this game
has been playing
for too long
yeah
yeah you did it
yeah you did it
yeah you did it
did you get enough?
my sweet child of fire
this love affair is so lost
this love affair is so lost
cut through the sea
this pendulum swings near to me
we are the storm
so take your ship to port
oh it's time to let it go (time to let it go)
right now it's time to let it go
time to let it go
'cause this feels like half a million years
and I know you feel the same way
I do
don't you
don't you
well they said we'd tear ourselves apart
turns out they were right
tear ourselves apart
turns out they were right
and it turns out they were right 'cause I've never seen you so weak
weak and so far out of breath and I never saw the tide rise
so high so fast
watch
this pawn capture the queen
white
picket drive-by
gargle
gargle the stench the storm brings

ATTN: Monticello.....dont know whether you know it or not but nearly all the songs on Calculating Infinity are about failed/doomed relationships. in regards to the title Calculating Infinity, a lot of narrow minded people seem to think that that title is a reference to math metal or some crap, but in actual fact it is in regards to people saying "ill love you forever" but how long is actually forever how can you calculate that? hence the title Calculating Infinity and all the songs about relationships and people. any one who wishes to dispute that, should check out the latest issue of decibel which has a story on the making of CI and interviews all the line up that dillinger had at the time. it has been voted into decibels hall of fame. really good read and awesome insight into a phenomenal album.
If you look at this song tech ... its just great.. and its intensity ... and the way its always twistin.. i cant get enough of dillinger
This song is about a failed relationship, predicted to fail from the start. The speaker describes himself as a pawn, quite unexpected to overtake a queen. Obviously the relationship blew up at some time and it's time for them to be on their seperate ways. this part is a bit more difficult:
"cut through the sea this pendulum swings near to me we are the storm so take your ship to port"
I guess he's saying the two of them together are the storm, as opposed to a calm ocean breeze. Now he wants to seperate, staying the storm as the partner goes to port, leaving him alone. Now it is time for the two to "let it go"
i don't think this song is about relationships at all. i think it's a completely schizophrenic song written about an inner struggle with some sort of problem in your life, like drugs. "i've never seen the tide rise so fast"; the tide is a craving for a drug, this line means he's finally too addicted. "watch this pawn capture the queen" means that the addiction or problem snuck up like a pawn slowly moving across the chess board, until all of a sudden, the queen gets captured and your team is fucked. "well they said we'd tear ourselves apart" - people tell you to avoid drug problems and alcoholism because it'll fuck your life up, and this line represents not believing the nay-sayers at the beginning but eventually tearing the better and worse halves of yourself apart. "yeah you did it did you get enough? my sweet child of fire this love affair is so lost "
this passage is all about the part of him that has the drug problem and won't let him give it up, even though he knows it's been going on too long...
"oh it's time to let it go (time to let it go) right now it's time to let it go time to let it go
'cause this feels like half a million years and I know you feel the same way I do don't you don't you "
obviously, when you're trying to give something up that is a negative influence in your life, and you can't, it feels like half a million years. "and i know you feel the same way", he says this because he's talking to himself and he KNOWS he feels the same way
oh and whoever's talking shit about greg, try reading into his lyrics a little.
oh one more thing, "empty skin bag you're my cum rag" means he abused/is abusing himself via excessive drug use/alcoholism/whatever he's fucking up about
hmm...is this a social song? I mean, think about this and read the lyrics: as humans, we are producing way too much in goods and ourselves. The result is global warming, which will lead to floods later and the death of ourselves. And, even in this (when it happens), we will still be producing regardless of the earth being so upset with us raping her- too much was not enough. This album could be giving a better message than we think! ;) It seems to be about how destructive humans are and the result of it in aspects as insiginificant as our petty relationships all the way to the earth.
empty skin bag you're my cum rag thats the greatest line in music history
It's about heroin.
Greg may have been joking here but he says its about flood relief in Thailand. When they played at the Virgin Megastore.
