another correction, if you listen to the complete control sessions, it is not "Some head for glory, others refresh" it is "Some head for glory, others, we crash"

A couple small corrections and a huge one. The first one's the biggie, at no point in this song does Dave say, "Where's your God?".

Probably half joking, at a live show in Chicago, Dave said this song is about "redheads". Every true irishman's weakspot. However, I think it can be reasonablly concluded that this song is about running into a past love intrest and the mixed emotions that ensue.
I think it's mostly about his mum and Ireland in he line "Theres an ocean between where I am and where I want to be" but I agree it's is partially about old love.

When I saw these guys, Dave King said something along the lines of "This song is to all you beautiful people out there". I dunno if that's relevant but...
