Let's Get Lost Lyrics
I’ve been outside
Invited in
But I couldn’t abide
Went missing again
Burning every bridge that I cross
To find some beautiful place to get lost
I had true love
But made it die
Pushed out of the way
She said please stay
Burning every bridge that I cross
To find some beautiful place to get lost
To find some beautiful place to get lost
I don't know where I'll go now
And I don't really care who follows me there
But ill burn every bridge that I cross
To find some beautiful place to get lost
To find some beautiful place to get lost
Invited in
But I couldn’t abide
Went missing again
To find some beautiful place to get lost
I had true love
But made it die
She said please stay
Burning every bridge that I cross
To find some beautiful place to get lost
I don't know where I'll go now
And I don't really care who follows me there
But ill burn every bridge that I cross
To find some beautiful place to get lost

Isolation. Shutting people out of your life.
"Burning every bridge you cross" -- shunning everyone you meet. "Find some beautiful place to get lost" -- being totally alone, away from the people you feel so alienated from. "Had true love, made it die, pushed her away" -- unable to be totally giving and intimate in a relationship, always holding back. "I've been outside, invited in, but couldn't abide" -- people have reached out to be friends, but they are always shunned eventually, somehow.
Maybe I'm projecting, but I think this is a song about self-isolation and the inability to be really be close to anyone, time and time again always going back to being alone intentionally.
@8394147 Maybe so but it's a beautiful interpretation and that is more or less what I take away from the song.

@emifinan: I think it's titled "Let's Get Lost" not because he wants to find someone to keep up with him, but after Bruce Weber's excellent 1988 documentary about California jazz musician Chet Baker's life (called "Let's Get Lost").
And to all the people who think it's not about drugs -- Chet Baker was a massive heroin addict.
The lyric is cleary.....
"I've been outside Invited in But I couldn't abide I wouldn't LISTEN again"
I'm positive about this.
You are absolutely right.

"Well I don't know where I'll go now & I don't really care who follows me there"- Awesome!
beautiful beautiful song that you keep liking the more you listen to it. he's genious <3
What a beautiful song. Short and sweet.
This song probably doesn't really have a hidden meaning or anything, it's probably him feeling like he screws up every relationship he ever has, like "burning every bridge that i cross." I thinke the Beatles-esqe (white album) guitar is so perfect for this sweet little song, and with any other tune it would be horribly depressing, but it's actually kind of optomistic. Like he's realized he can't maintain a relationship, but he'll keep going until he finds the perfect relationship.
I doubt there is really any hidden meaning behind this little song. I think it's just that he's realized he's not getting anywhere and that his relationships aren't working, but he's going to keep going until he finds this beautiful place. Any other tune, other than this poppy white album beatles-esque, would make this song be so depressing, but it's actually kind of optomistic if you think about it.
this does have a beatles feel to it. i think that is part of the appeal. i think the song is about regreting the one true love and trying to seek that relationship again even if it means going back to his memories and ruining all other relationships
