Time Machine Lyrics

Oh what are you gonna do
When there's a part of you
That needs to run with the wind?

And the fire of burning yesterdays
Can only light the way
To lead you from
The garden of the dark

Stay out of shadows
Now looks like the change is on
Tomorrow's never gone
Today just never come

Go on and jump, yeah
Into the hurricane
You will forget the pain
It's only there
To exorcise your mind

Looking at the world
When you've open up your eyes
You've got to see promises they've made
They're bloody lies and broken dream
Your silence screamed

You're living in a time machine
And you can choose just who you are
Someone that you've never seen
Somewhere you've never been
You're living in a time machine

Oh what are you gonna do
When every part of you
Just needs to catch that wind?

And the fire of burnin' yesterdays
Can only light the way
To lead you from
The garden of the dark

Looking for the world
When you've opened up your eyes
You'll see you've got invisible chains
They're only lies
Not what it seems
I hear your silent scream

You're living in a time machine
Nobody cares just where you go
Taken where you've never been
Make it to somewhere you don't know

Living in a time machine
Why do you stay who you are
Be what you've never been
Someone you've never seen
You're living in a time machine
Yeah

I think it's more of a metaphor for how in control of your own life you really are.

A lot of people blame things that happen in their life, on the fact that they have no control over anything. When really, they're just a bunch of pussies for not taking control.

Power comes to those who claim it, and all that.

That sounds reasonable, but it sounds like someone who's living in a sort of dream world; a man refuses to live in the present and constantly spends his time reliving the past and imagining the future, like Death of a Salesman, where Willy Loman can't fix how bad his life has become because he's too busy thinking about the past because his life has become so bad; it's a vicious cycle. In a way, that makes it the perfect thing to write a song about, because it allows people to break out of that cycle; people are stuck living in false realities because they don't think they can handle the real reality.

yeah i agree i think its about realizing how much control you really have over your life, you make your own history so living is really like being ina time machine because you choose what you did in the past.

Can you bench press a ton?

No? You pussy!!!

Its about reality in a virtual dream world. Because we are all in a time loop. anyone can literally become aware and change their lives and become famous.

But at what cost? For every winner there is everybody else that isn't living that dream life.

Not to mention pussies calling pussies pussies.

This is a concept album about machines and insane overseers.

Dio is encouraging us to disobey the systems of chance.
