Wednesday, January 16, 2002 Grundy, Virginia: At the Appalachian School of law, a repeating first year student had flunked out and attempted to convince school administrators to let him return to no avail. He went home and got his handgun and returned. He entered the school and shot six people, killing three: Dean Anthony Sutin, Professor Thomas Blackwell, and 1st Year Student and former employee Angela Dales.
I was there that awful day. On Friday, January 18th we had a memorial for the victims at a church directly beside the law school. As a cold and freezing rain came down, as we exited, the sun miraculously shined through the clouds. I immediately remembered this song and I have used it sense as a recovery tool and to remember those lost and affected that day.
Song is about someone going through a tough time, but eventhough it all seems like its falling apart there is hope in the end. That sometimes you just can't see straight when it's this black.
