The Answer Lyrics

Feeding the five thousand was not done with prayers alone
It takes blood and guts and it takes devotion
So tired of standing up and so tired of drawing breath
It's your turn to take the map and it's your turn to drop the soap

We've got pretty, pretty boys sucking on a cola
Money to burn, money to burn, money to burn
We've got rules to protect us
Isaac and Ishmael
The magazine says it's okay
Life as a billboard

And if you are the answer
We are going straight to hell

Grown in a parental fugue
Weight loss in self respect
Bomb, bomb, bomb us back together
A new way into a lost answer

And you could talk a little less

I agree with carriefish. It's about the religious people of the world and how they think that just by praying and hoping for something (like an end to world peace or world hnger) it will happen. But it takes more than just prayers to "feed the five thousand". They keep looking for a saviour/prtector to do the work for them and meanwhile wast their money on frivilous things (Cola).

It's a less talk more action type song.

Actually there's nothing here that could be linked to bush directly. I see it more as an allegory for the times we live in

I could totally say this is about Mr. Bush, but I don't know where Bloc Party are from.

Yes, Bloc Party are from Essex, England. And they surely have opinions about Bush. (Check their song Helicopter) What I've heard is this song about Bush, for example "And if you are the answer, we are going straight to hell" And sure we would if he was the answer..

I really love this song, and I really love BP.

They're North Londoners thank you very much!

It could be about bush - helicopter is. Just because they are british doesn't mean they dont have views on other countries politics. I still love this song though!

not sure if this is about Bush. It's a rather old song, well prior to the conflict in Iraq I believe. It is after the World Trade attack, but...while Bush was just an idiot then, he's a threat now.

Btw, Boss, they arne't north Londoners, read it up :P. Kele (Okereke) and Russell (Lissack) are from Essex, I think Gordon (Moakes) is from Milton Keynes, And Matt (Tong) is from Bournemouth, but later moved to London (For studies and stuffs)... but Them I am a rather obssessive fan. But yeah, The Bush idea will do me. Ben xxx
