My eyes are sore, my body weak,
My throat is dry, I cannot speak.
My words are dead,
Falling like feathers to the floor.
You gave me things I'd never seen,
You made my life a waking dream.
But we are dead,
Falling like ashes to the floor.
Definitions confine thoughts, they are a myth,
Words are clumsy, language doesn't fit.
But we know there's no limit to thought,
We know there's no limits.
Now it's your turn to see me rise,
You burned my wings, but watch me fly,
Above your head.
Looking down I see you far below,
Looking up you see my spirit glow.
My throat is dry, I cannot speak.
My words are dead,
Falling like feathers to the floor.
You gave me things I'd never seen,
You made my life a waking dream.
But we are dead,
Falling like ashes to the floor.
Words are clumsy, language doesn't fit.
But we know there's no limit to thought,
We know there's no limits.
Now it's your turn to see me rise,
You burned my wings, but watch me fly,
Above your head.
Looking up you see my spirit glow.

Great song. Very uplifting, like a Seagull might, I guess.
^ Oops, forgot to add I think that is the correct lyrics.
Well, having listened the hell out of Vapour Trail and Taste off of Nowhere, I guess this is my new favourite song.
Very beautiful lyrics. I'd guess that it's about being cheated on, and ending a relationship because of it - the first verse describes how crestfallen the narrator is feeling at the point of revelation, and how transcendental the partnership had been before that.
The second seems to describe the unspoken feeling that all is not well - no words are needed, or even adeguate to express the emotion felt. Finally the narrator describes how, through his partners action, he has been able to escape into honesty. The final two lines describe the narrator now free of this painful relationship, now happy and free.
The whole seagull thing is of course a reference to freedom. I always thought that they were the most free of birds - gliding atop the ocean, free, free of predators (as far as i know - ???) and joyous. Pretty nice.
Ah well, I always miss the mark by just a little on meanings, but I think I understand this song. The music seems to go wonderfully with the lyrical theme, right?
I agree on this: but I think the breaking-up part is a theme throughou the whole song. I mean, first he says they're dead. But then he still describes an undescribable feeling of love, so I guess it is about a relationship that slowly gets torn apart.

The whole album arranges songs in a perfect way. In Seagull, in my own feeling, seemed like lost hope in a relationship, at least, it was a pretty painful and desperate feeling by saying we are dead, like ashes falling to floor. But deep down in mind, he still loves her deeply, even deeper than ever, especially when he felt his lover loves her back, he is clear, though there is no hope, no future to this relationship, but in his mind, his love has turned to become a spirirt, which is transcends time, space. I can feel true and pure love. Especially when listening to the rest of the songs in this album one by one, the emotion will gradually rise up to its top and then it will gradually calm nerves down, ends in a comforting way. (I will leave comment on each song in this album one by one. )
