Screen Writing an Apology Lyrics

She called last night still waiting for a reply.
This static contact is pulling us apart.
Please hang up on tight,
I'll see you through the night.

You have me still be because I'm breathing,
Although it has slowed down.
Please don't cry because I'm leaving.
I hope I see you soon.

Exchange the sunshine for brown eyes and dark skies,
Replace this dull life with you.
I Know it's tomorrow,
She's waiting for something to feel alive.

You know me too well,
She's sorry and I can tell.
Scene missing, fade to black.
You're acting all this out again,

Just wake me when it's over,
When the curtains raise,
It's time to move on.
Exit now, credits rolling,
The girl who stole my heart.
The one that got away...

This song is actually about the exact situation that I'm in right now with my ex-girlfriend.

First I'll make a little summary for those who don't want to read a long post: I think the song is about a guy who got dumped and the girl who dumped him trying to get back with him even though she's lost her feelings for him. He hasn't lost his feelings, and he can't stand this situation.

"She called last night still waiting for a reply. This static contact is pulling us apart. Please hang up on tight, I'll see you through the night."

She calls me several times a week and I rarely call back because she dumped me and I'm trying to get away, but I'm also hoping that this will make her come back (covered later). I feel like when we hang out since we broke up and don't kiss or act like we're together (static contact) it's pulling us apart rather than helping us get back together. I dream about her almost every night which is what that last sentence is about.

"You have me still be because I'm breathing, Although it has slowed down. Please don't cry because I'm leaving. I hope I see you soon."

Right now I feel as long as I'm alive I'll love her, but already I don't love her as much as I once did. She's upset because I'm leaving her life, but I'm hoping she'll eventually want me back and we'll see each other again.

"Exchange the sunshine for brown eyes and dark skies, Replace this dull life with you. I Know it's tomorrow, She's waiting for something to feel alive. "

Eventually she breaks down and calls me, tells me she wants to get back together. I give in right away, we start hanging out, but things still aren't much better. She keeps telling me that maybe she'll start having "a spark" for me again, but right now she's not feeling much (she's waiting for something to feel alive).

"You know me too well, She's sorry and I can tell. Scene missing, fade to black. You're acting all this out again,"

The reason she can't feel something for me is that she just knows me too well. She doesn't believe the promises I make and remembers all the horrible things I did to her when we were together. She's sorry that she still can't feel good about me, but she can't help it because she knows me so well.

Another thing about my ex is that she's an actress. Like she actually acts on stage in plays--and she was a very good actress in the last month of our relationship when she'd decided she wanted to dump me (she acted like she still loved me). Once again, she began acting like she liked me a lot--even though she didn't.

"Just wake me when it's over, When the curtains raise, It's time to move on. Exit now, credits rolling, The girl who stole my heart. The one that got away..."

This last part is after she basically tells me she still isn't feeling anything which surprises me since we're doing so much better and even kissing again. But stupidly I'm still holding out hope that we'll be back together--but I hate going through this and I just wish I could go to sleep and not wake up until the end of the summer, when I'll finally know if she wants to be with me again or not (I'm not going to explain why I'll know by then). I know she won't love me again, and I know it'll be time to move on by then.

I'm sure this isn't what they had in mind when they wrote this song, but I'm almost absolutely sure it was a very, very similar situation. Either way, it's what the song means to me and I'm surprised no one else came up with something similar.

Wow. I agree with you, and definatly believe that that is a meaning of the song, whether the band meant it to be or not.

There's nothing else to say except that this is a beautiful song and JT has an exteremly sexy voice, just because duras summed it up so well. =]

FaiNT...you are one weird chick, his voice is anything but SECKSAY, but whatever. I am surprised not that many people dig this song, it's such a meaningful masterpiece that I wish they would play live, but they never do. All you fans out there make sure to support Hawthorne on the Take Action Tour with Sugarcult and the Early November.

This song is so beautiful. This song was played at my cousin's funeral. I'm not the one that picked it out, but her sister did. "Exchange the sunshine for brown eyes, and dark skies, replace this dull life with you" she had brown eyes, and I know she would trade anything to look into those brown eyes again, and "Just wake me when it's over" when all the sorrow is over and we can go on living. This song has helped us all through this tough time

Brings back those great memories of my broken heart...no wait, it still is. Shit.

I have a little trouble with this band because some of their songs have really cliche lyrics, but this one isn't bad.

I like the last stanza the best, the allusory of a movie theater. My old love and I used to go to the movies all the time so it strikes close to home.
