Clumsy Card House Lyrics

By the way
By your side I'll stay
If that's okay
Then by you side I'll stay forever
Here I am standing up
Because i want to fall in love with you

A sunless day
It was a clumsy card house rape
If that's okay
Then by your side I'll stay forever

Here I am standing up
To say I want to fall in love with you...
Forever...
Here I am standing up
To say i want to fall in love...

All our kids will play.
A Sunless day.
The rain will come.
The rain always brings our heros
All our kids will play.
A Sunless day.
The rain will come.
The rain always brings our heros

Believe in Heros....

By the way
By your side I'll stay
If that's okay
Then by you side I'll stay forever

Yeah, I said forever!

This may be Blue October's best song... Definitely one of my favorites... It basically means that he wants to become very serious with this girl that he loves, but there is either something standing in their way right now, or there will be trouble ahead in their relationship... He is acknowledging that there will be problems, but that they will get through them together...

When i first heard these lyrics, i imagined somebody going through like a little fling or sexual adventures of some sort. The sunless day meaning that there were no unhappy moments in their experience. (No clouds) But they're adventures went to far, and thier "clumsy card house rape" resulted in a little pregant surprise. Instead of being freaked out and fleeing, blue is saying that if its okay, he'll stand by your side forever. He'll always be there for you if you need him. He is ready to fall in love and not just play around with the idea anymore.

He starts talking about their kids playing on a sunless day. But when the rain comes, they are reminded of something about life (where i am at a loss of words.. yet i understand)...

anyway... i really do love these lyrics... even if i look into them a little too much :)

To me this song is about a man who clumsily violated the woman he was with sexually. More than anything he wants to believe that he is a good man and that this is something he could never do. And I think he cares for the woman, and is saying that if she can get passed what has happened, he'll stand by her and love her forever. Then he goes on to imagine their life together.

In the DVD, Argue with a Tree, the "Sidewalk Chalk" section, Justin explains some of the songs. This is one of them... about how you can build a relationship and build and build this beautiful house of cards, and it can crumble and fall...like a card house ...then when he says "the rain always brings our heros" he was referring to when he and his brother would play in the rain, sliding down the sidewalk on old cardboard boxes... he hopes he can one day see his children do that. He says it's a hopeful song....

if Beccarose hadn't added that part about the heros, i would've guessed that he was saying that the rain, or the bad times, would show who was really strong and brave and heroic...just a thought.

I agree with lomrie089, excpet i've always thought it was about someone that had been raped, and has moved on and is trying to have a relationship with someone new. But she feels like she has to tell him first. And she thinks about the kids she could have someday and how happy she could be. And (like imaginexothat said) that if she told this new person about her rain, or bad times, he could be her hero.

The meaning of this song is kind of confusing to me but I think it's about a girl who was raped and it's hard for her to get over it and this guy wants her to know he'lll stay by her side and that he loves her. I also agree with imaginexothat the part "The rain always brings our heros" means in bad times you learn who is there for you.

I always had the idea that this song was about some girl that he's been in love with since they were little kids but how even though it wont work out he'll always love her and can see their kids doing something similar.

As for the rain thing I'm not sure but we're from the same part of Texas and spectacular things do always seem to happen as soon as it stops raining

this song is actually about his issue where he jumps in to relationships too fast he falls in love too fast and he builds up the relationship like a clumsy card house and when it goes bad the clumsy card house falls, but the meaning is a bit distant from the lyrics or maybe not P.O.V he sais this in a video on youtube
