Thank You Note Lyrics
As she woke up for the final injection
The sickness was hard when there was no one around
And it spread to her hands and it spread to her legs
And they felt like the mud from the pond on the ground
That she played in as a kid
What she did to deserve this
While her friends were at parties
She was on the floor
With a mixture of blood, sweat, and tears by her head
That's when she said, "Can I be dead?"
Yeah, I've heard that before
So as I'm writing this thank you note
There's just one thing she wanted you to know
Just before she had to go
She said that she liked you
Just hung the painting that we found of London
I never saw the beauty of that city before
As it sat in our basement next to board games and yearbooks
With a faint smell of must, dust, and dog food on the floor
So as I'm writing this thank you note
There's just one thing she wanted you to know
Just before she had to go
She said that she liked you
The sickness was hard when there was no one around
And it spread to her hands and it spread to her legs
And they felt like the mud from the pond on the ground
That she played in as a kid
What she did to deserve this
While her friends were at parties

this is about the same girl who died of cancer... (take tomorrow)
this is such a sad song. his voice, the lyrics, everything is so fucking sad and beautiful. i love it so much.
Here's my take. The song is about a girl who died of an illness (probably cancer?). The first part is about how she suffered towards the end ("That's when she said, 'Can I be dead?'"). The chorus is from the point of view of someone who was close to her, writing a "thank you note" to a friend of the girl. The note is basically thanking this person for being good to the girl as she neared death. Toward the end, the girl must have gotten quite close to him ("Just before she had to go / She said that she liked you"). Not sure about the second verse though.
wow... no one has commented on this one. well before i actually listend to the words this song i wasreally confused. but after really listening and looking at the lyircs, it has a lot of power to it. and the sad tone to it, like the piano, i just almost want to cry. I dunno, i can't really find very much under the lyrics. i am just wondering what the thank you note actually is? is it for the girl that is sick? or is it for someone else (like the girls crush). also when the guy is looking at the picture, maybe that is where he met the girl, but took her for granted, and now that she is dead he comes to realise the beauty and importance of her. and now these memories are just wasting away with the staleness of the bastment. i dunno! it is a well written song though

this song is soo beautiful..there should be more comments!!!!!
anyway, i think the message of this song is basically, tell someone you like/love them before it's too late
Well, I get the first verse; it's a girl who is sick and is dying, obviously. This song is beautiful, the only thing that bothers me is Butch's voice... it has something I really don't like. But yeah.
as for the meaning, i agree its about the girl who died of cancer... but the last comment...his VOICE bothers you!?!?!? um...okayyyyyy. i think his voice sounds fantastic.
