it goes beyond these transitory elements.
this song is about the mind. it is about the idea that the world, the universe, and everything is a product of one's own thoughts and the mind has ultimate control over these things. he breathes as the world, he creates the waves, he creates all these things simply because he has a mind.
unfortunately, these sort of thoughts are taboo in a western capitalist culture, and subjectivism brings the belief that because you think outside the box in terms of the ideas-of-reality, then you are odd and you are afraid of yourself.

This song is actually borrowed from the text of a Kurt Vonnegut (sp?) short story called "The Barnhouse Effect" in the collection "Welcome to the Monkey House".
In the story, a university prof. learns to control the outcomes of rolling dice with his mind, and as his talent grows, the more he thinks the more destructive his mind can become. all of this story is told through the narrative of one of this students, to whom Dr. Barnhouse confided in about his new power. Dr. Barnhouse seems out of whack, loopy and absented-minded, because whenever he concentrates, his telekinesis goes on rampage and destroys things.
He goes on to say, "It was fear of myself that made me odd", the title of this track, illustrating how he became so crazy in an effort to control his destructive powers. it turns out the story is a letter to the governemnt, and the story ends as the narrator confides that he too, has learned how to control objects with his mind from Dr. Barnhouse, and will use them against any oppressive actions by governments around the world. I believe that this track demonstrates how the boys of AOF felt with their new popularity as a band, that they had all this new power and influence over their fans and a growing fan base, so there was good to be done with their new legitimacy.

Actually it seems pretty plain to me. Not really original, but definitly a good title for a song.
And with a name like kingfatass, i don't think anyone really gives a shit, whether you think it's 'pretty plain' or not.
i agree with henry_manback.....this song is really amazing....i love these guys...and you cant just look at lyrics kingfatass, you have to look past them and try to find different meanings and what the artist is trying to get at...a line as simple as i dive into the pacific, can be a metaphor for jumping into somthing to big for him to handle, or it could just mean swimming, try to look at it through a poetic aspect
