What's In It For Me Lyrics
What's in it for me?
What's in it for me?
I came here for a good time
And you're telling me to leave
But you don't have to say it again
'Cause I heard you the first time
We're counting on you
We're counting on you
I like to remember it like that
We had one in the hand
That was one in the hand
You never come over any more
So you don't have to say it again
'Cause I heard you the first time
What's in it for me?
I came here for a good time
And you're telling me to leave
But you don't have to say it again
'Cause I heard you the first time
We're counting on you
I like to remember it like that
We had one in the hand
That was one in the hand
You never come over any more
'Cause I heard you the first time

Why am i the first to say something about this song. If you listen to this song and honnestly dont have the feeling that things are slipping out of your hands and theres nothing you can do about it then something is wrong.
The Walkmen have a gift for very simple lyrics that work extremly well. The whole Bows & Arrows album seems like the story of a guy that's living an unstable, partying lifestyle. About his lost loves, lost oppurtunities, and lost memories. I think this song begins that trip very well as the first track on the album
I call this album, perfect timing, because i'm going through some relationship problems, and this album has helped me realize that things happen, and so I should just let it everything settle down. This is a song that difinitely points that out to me. Such a great song, especially when The Rat kicks in, it's like a continuation of what happens next.
Haunting Organ, as I said on another post. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful!!!
the "one in the hand" line is interesting. it's like that old proverb, he's saying...they had it good. maybe he's also implying the other person wanted more than he could give. i really relate to this song a lot right now
