All Comes Out In The Wash Lyrics

I never'd have guessed
you and I would be friends
I'll never say never again
I've spent hours on the phone
and all the rest
I guess I bleed the best
And every night it's plain to see
it wasn't meant to be

After all is said and done, it's over after all
You barely cried as you waved goodbye

It all comes out in the wash
Who would've guessed it would wind up like this
It's better than never again
I've spent hours in the rain and dried out somehow
I'd rather plead the fifth

And every time the morning comes
I wonder what I've done

After all is said and done, it's over after all
You barely cried as you waved goodbye
It all comes out in the wash

Empty cars and phone booth scars
Knuckles on the mend
Every time I go too far I'd rather wind up
Rather wind up dead

I should've guessed it would end up like this
I'll never say never again

After all is said and done, it's over after all
You barely cried as you waved goodbye
It all comes out in the wash

Yea, this is obviously a break-up song...but it's so damned amazing.

Basically saying how he can't really believe the entire cycle of the relationship, and the flaming pile of shit that it ended up in. : )

mmmmmmmmmm

Just plain good.

Pretty obvious meaning, although could someone clarify the line "i'd rather plead the fifth" i don't really understand what that means

hmm.. plead the fiftth.. whasnt the fifth commendment something about murder... maybe it means he'd rather plead guilty to murder... ?

"To plead the fifth" refers to the US constitution, and under this amendment, you choose not to answer anything that will incriminate you. This prevents people from providing incriminating evidence against themselves. Basically, it means "No Comment".

I don't think that this song is specifically about a romantic relationship. To me, its more about becoming friends with someone you never thought you would, and then having it end badly. Its about missing someone and what you had with them more than they miss you and your friendship and how hard that can be to deal with.

I think this is a song about a relationship that ended badly, but after all that happened, he finds that their relationship is way better off as friends.
