One Second of Insanity Lyrics
Damn you make up your mind
I pop a pill at a time and you've got it
Crawling like my skin
When you don't wanna be found
You dig a hole in the ground
Choke down the filth you're living in
Is this the reason I've been low?
If this is is wrong then let me go
It's a long way down
But you'll never listen
It's the wrong time now
But you'll never give in
Smash your grip on control
For sale on your soul
Bite down, smile and take the pain
Pressure tested to break
What choice will you make?
One second or infinity?
Is this the reason I've been low?
If this is wrong then me go
It's a long way down
But you'll never listen
It's the wrong time now
But you'll never give in
Give me one second to breathe!
One second
One second is a long time now
But you'll never listen
It's the wrong way round
But you'll never give in
I pop a pill at a time and you've got it
Crawling like my skin
You dig a hole in the ground
Choke down the filth you're living in
If this is is wrong then let me go
But you'll never listen
It's the wrong time now
But you'll never give in
For sale on your soul
Bite down, smile and take the pain
What choice will you make?
One second or infinity?
If this is wrong then me go
But you'll never listen
It's the wrong time now
But you'll never give in
One second
But you'll never listen
It's the wrong way round
But you'll never give in

its about being stuck ina position and not knowing what do do, giving advice and not knowing how to figur it all out
I reckon its about a people trying to push you around and make you do things you dont want to do, hence the line: 'give me one second to breathe' and the line 'smash your grip on control' means "stop trying to control me"
The longest song to write on the album (also, the shortest song on the album clocking in at 2:14sec). This song had so many different endings that we've decided we're going to write the next album from all of the unused endings that once existed on it! In the end, we decided to run with a less is more approach on this track. We argued (quite heatedly at points) as to where the song should go after the middle heavy section. Kurt and Glenn saying not back to the chorus as that would be" boring ", and Ben and Clint saying chorus and out as that was all the song needed. (Have a listen and see who won!) In the mixing notes that were sent to Tim Palmer, Ben asked if he could add a phaser effect to his ride cymbal to make the drop into the middle section more refined.
"Damn you make up your mind, I pop a pill at a time" - Too many changes too frequently, people can't deal with it.
"When you don't want to be found. You dig a hole in the ground" - Sell off to someone else and change the company name.
The whole chorus says people tried to speak up but nobody listened or ignored it.
"For sale sign on your soul. Bite down, smile and take the pain" - Accept that business isn't going so well, fix it!
"Give me one second to breathe!" - Making me work harder won't fix anything. Stressing employees causes the opposite of the intended goal.
good song
The title makes me think it's about having a thought that's so unorthadox, sadistic, wierd etc. that it could be nothing but insane and then making the choice of whether to linger on it or move on as if you never had it... But then the lyrics make me have to agree with ydoidothis.
Peer pressure?
@metallican17 could be peer pressure ... I take it as making a mistake, and perhaps regretting the consequences of that "one second of insanity".

Sounds like peer pressure could have been the reason for them making that "bad" decision.
