Me! I Disconnect from You Lyrics
The alarm rang for days,
You could tell from conversations.
I was waiting by the screen,
I couldn't recognise my photograph.
Me, I disconnect from you.
I was walking up the stairs,
Something moved in silence.
I could feel his mind decaying,
Only inches away from me.
And I disconnect from you.
Please don't turn me off,
I don't know what I'm doing outside.
Me and the telephone that never rings,
If you were me what would you do?
Me, I disconnect from you.
You could tell from conversations.
I was waiting by the screen,
I couldn't recognise my photograph.
Something moved in silence.
I could feel his mind decaying,
Only inches away from me.
I don't know what I'm doing outside.
Me and the telephone that never rings,
If you were me what would you do?

Definitive Gary Numan. The live version of this song might actually be better than the studio album release.
True alienation, as Mr. Numan is, obviously, a true alien. From outer space.
@Snakewing Wow, I've never stopped to think about this double meaning of the word, ahahah. Awesome!

It's amazing how Gary can talk about machines, androids, robots and the like but still create another layer of interpretation focused on human (or a particular man) feelings, associated to relationship fears or issues already.
A song of lonliness and alienation. A common theme throughout the album and Numan's early music in general
My favourite Numan song. So addictive!
Loneliness, isolation, technology are common themes. Me! I disconnect from you. Something is just so perfect about that.
