This is such a good song, I think probably the best on the cd! I think it is about a long distance relationship and no matter how far he is away from this girl he will still love her no matter what.

When I saw them live last week he dedicated this song to the memory of Johnny Ramone which I thought was the sweetest thing ever.

I wish he was singing it to me~ :)

I think my first wish came true....

I think that its obvious its about love shining through a distance, like when two people are apart. But I also think "the darkness" is bad times. Like even though we go through rough patches, you still know I love you and will always.

"Luminescent my heart shines for you - So don't let go"

I think that part is saying even though its tough right now, I still love you even though it might not seem like I show it, so please dont leave.

Am I the only one who sees numerous Twin Peaks tie-ins in this song? First off, I'd like to note that the title can be read as a tie-in to the famous "Fire Walk With Me" poem, which reads as follows: Through the darkness of future past The magician longs to see. One chants out between two worlds Fire walk with me. Secondly, there are references to owls ("My song is heard in owls' cries"/"The owls are not what they seem") and fire ("Burning like Pagan fires of long ago"/the continuing theme of fire in Twin Peaks, particularly in a a representation of the main villain, BOB). Candles also make an appearance in Twin Peaks, during a scene in which a character is performing a ritual and chanting "Fire Walk With Me." The neon sign also reminds me of the oft-repeated shot of the neon sign outside Twin Peaks' Double R Diner. Dreaming and sleep are also key plot elements in Twin Peaks. Also, this song has a very 50's feel to it: Twin Peaks was also famous for its vintage vibe. It's tenuous, I know, but since I heard this song, I never was able to shake my perceived connection between the two.
