Bell Bottom Blues Lyrics

Bell bottom blues, you made me cry.
I don't want to lose this feeling.
And if I could choose a place to die
It would be in your arms.

Do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you?
Do you want to hear me beg you to take me back?
I'd gladly do it because
I don't want to fade away.
Give me one more day, please.
I don't want to fade away.
In your heart I want to stay.

It's all wrong, but it's all right.
The way that you treat me baby.
Once I was strong but I lost the fight.
You won't find a better loser.

Do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you?
Do you want to hear me beg you to take me back?
I'd gladly do it because
I don't want to fade away.
Give me one more day, please.
I don't want to fade away.
In your heart I want to stay.

Do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you?
Do you want to hear me beg you to take me back?
I'd gladly do it because
I don't want to fade away.
Give me one more day, please.
I don't want to fade away.
In your heart I want to stay.

Bell bottom blues, don't say goodbye.
I'm sure we're gonna meet again,
And if we do, don't you be surprised
If you find me with another lover.

Do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you?
Do you want to hear me beg you to take me back?
I'd gladly do it because
I don't want to fade away.
Give me one more day, please.
I don't want to fade away.
In your heart I want to stay.

I don't want to fade away.
Give me one more day please.
I don't want to fade away.
In your heart I long to stay.

Amazing song, especially the solo, there's a tonne of emotion in it. A song about unrequited love in my opinion (as is the whole "Layla..." album) most likely the love of Pattie Boyd, and this woman doesn't want to be with him, and he's basically begging for her. Then again it may not fit in with the whole Pattie Boyd situation.

This is probably about Patti Harrison ( = Layla). Incredibly beautiful song . . One of my favorites to hear on classic rock radio.

sheesh she eventually became Mrs Clapton, but EC found out the hard way that loving the wrong someone can be bad...

As I had just read in Eric's autobiography, this is a song about Pattie Boyd.

Before Eric was ready to leave for Miami to record the Layla record, Pattie "asked me to get her some pairs of these jeans we used to wear called Landlubbers, which were hipsters with two little slip pockets at the front. She had asked for flared rather than straight bottoms, so I had written "Bell Bottom Blues" for her.

So there it is.

Major goosebumps! Beautiful love song! This song was the first E.C. song I remember hearing back in 5th grade and that all it took for to be a huge lifelong fan. It made a big impact on me then and now. Probably a top ten alltime song in my book.

this so is about patti, but hes not talking to her, hes talking about the music he has been playing thru his broken heart, he wouldnt mention to songs directly at her when layla does it perfectly, this sng is about the music he has written from the pain she gave him.

amazing record, amazing guitarist, amazing man

This song really resonated with me when I lost a girl I loved. I actually broke it off because I was scared of family conflicts, and after several months tried to go back to her, but she wouldn't open herself up again. She wanted to throw away or give back everything I had ever given her, and it felt to me that doing so would cause me to fade away and disappear from her heart. Maybe it is about Patti, but she had rebuffed him at some point.

I was probably 9 or 10 when I first heard this song. The songs meaning for me is different from probably anyone else. My mom left me before I started elementary school. She didn’t come back until I was around 10. My mom wore those bell bottoms when she came back into my life. Life was hell while she was gone. I would do anything for her to come back. But it wasn’t under my control. She had to decide. I just knew I loved her and needed her desperately. I felt like her faded jeans. That I had faded away since she’d been gone. I needed permanence. This song always brings me to tears. No matter what or who Clapton wrote it about, it represented my mother and myself. I wanted to be loved and important in my moms life. I didn’t want to fade away from her memory. Took me a long time to realize that there was nothing I could do alone to fill the void.
