I think this song is about a strong friendship that is breaking up or has broken up. I think the person singing is trying to reason with the friend that he is having troubles with, but in the end sees that its hopeless and lets the friendship burn. My favorite part would be "From this house of our friendship Shut the door and light the match throw behind you Walk away" great song though, like all of SOTY's songs =D, they kick ass.
i think u r right, but it seems like he is talking about a girlfriend not just a friend. i think he doesn't want to brake up with her, but in his heart he knows that it is the right thing to do. in the end he learns that it can't work and has problems facing the facts of life. no matter what the meaning is it's still a great song.

It's fuckin simple. The opening says it all. "It's not what you will say It's what you have done To let this come between us" The chick stuffed the relationship... TRUST! Lol jks im a chick myself. It's not all literal. Like the part, "From this house of our friendship Shut the door and light the match throw behind you Walk away" It doesnt ACTUALLY mean that their friendship lives in a house that is burning. It's symbolic
