Like A.M. Radio Lyrics

My friends say it's alright..I keep my hands
Just out of sight
In bedrooms where I'm nothing else
there are broken laws..
And empty shelves..
And wonderful paintings of white
Wedding dresses..
I will love you forever (but these paintings
will last longer)

There's fake gold melting in my hands
Took it and lost some of my friends
I died telling the world..
This medicine..will bury me in unpaved sheets
But I know a ghost and she knows that
I know a ghost and she knows how to protect me

There's God then there's me
then there's everything in between

And there's God, There's me
There's saturn, There's me
And forget everything in between

My hands shake and squeeze tight
During surgery at night
Time is medicine
And all the reason why we can
Down fire, warm up our veins
Until we forget all our names
Forget this itching trigger finger grip..

Cause there's something dancing in my head
To a song I can't forget
And right now it's spinning the world..
It's the medicine that i need
Like clean new sheets..
But I know a ghost and she knows that
I know a ghost and she knows how to protect me

There's God then there's me
then there's everything in between

And there's God, There's me
There's saturn, There's me
And forget everything in between

There's a mirror that's never seen a face
in a room that takes up space
There's a journal and a lock of hair
There's a feather that never found the air
And they said I can leave heaven now...

one of my favorite songs on the cd, northstar is the best bands

i think this song is about failure

so many of the songs are about drugs.

My hands shake and squeeze tight During surgery at night Time is medicine And all the reason why we can Down fire, warm up our veins Until we forget all our names Forget this itching trigger finger grip..

surgery at night...get it?

i think someone died close to him and he's doing drugs to compensate for it...

or he thinks he is gonna die soon from drugging up too much...im not sure

I think that this song is a comment on the misery that comes with drug use.

There's fake gold melting in my hands Took it and lost some of my friends

You are bound to be abandoned by frustrated friends as you sink deeper into addiction...note that he also acknowledges here that drugs aren't really as great as they seem...they're fake gold, not real.

There's God...there's me There's Saturn...there is me Forget everything in between

This seems to me like he's saying that because of drugs, he's closer to Saturn than he is to God. Drugs take him away from God, as they do everyone.

i thinki this song was written about a situation in which he 1) starts doing drugs 2) doesn't stop doing drugs when his friend/lover dies 3) feels the guilt of doing them cuz he knows theyre wrong

beautiful song

I think it has a lot to do with confusion. Like he knows what he wants, but at the same time he doesn't understand, and wants answers to questions that he will never find. I also think it has to do with loss, and how he's trying to deal with it.

Sounds more like Alcohol rather than drugs.
Down fire, warm up our veins Until we forget all our names Usually when you drink straight it burns and usually gives you a warm feeling inside...warming up your veins, your blood, making you feel warm inside. The surgery at night is probably talking about cutting yourself or contemplating suicide, also the itching trigger finger. I mean just because a song mentions veins doesn't guarantee that it must be about heroin. If there was the case, and it always meant that, then it would really be as interesting.

If i could make a guess, i'm pretty sure it's coke because of this line:

"There's a mirror that's never seen a face"

But there are a lot of alcohol references in here too. Needless to say, its a great song that hits home a bit.

I'm pretty sure this song is about filling your body with any kind of substance (turning to drugs/alcohol) to help forget about a broken relationship you can't seem to get over on your own.

This medicine….will bury me in unpaved sheets But I know a ghost and she knows that I know a ghost and she knows how to protect me

The ghost, of course, referring to the girl he can't get over.

"She knows how to protect me" -- he has no use for the substances when she's in his life because she fills him with happiness. But without her he needs the substances (medicine) to fill the void in his life.

That's just what I think though..
