Siamese Cities Lyrics

I said I'm sorry to change my mind
It was a little bit cold that night
Was dreading the ride back to Little Italy
And meaning to hide out from my mind

When you walk you move like Moses
When you look you look like red roses
Every day breaks
Bitter river was a flood
Why do you leave me in-between Siamese cities?

I saw the sky in you
What did you see in me?
This rubber maid's had better days
Shake it out, static anonymity
Vanity, dull roar died down

When you take, you turn me over
From the street, rock radio plays
"Crimson and Clover" (over and over)
Every day breaks
Bitter river was a flood
Why do you leave me in-between Siamese cities?

When you walk, you move like Moses
When you look, you look like red roses
Every day breaks
Bitter river was a flood
Why do you leave me
Why do you leave me
Why do you leave me in-between Siamese cities?
Shalalala, shalalala
Shalalala, temporarily

She is shakin' out static anonymity
She is shakin' out static anonymity
She is shakin' (temporarily)
Shakin' (temporarily)
She is shakin' out static anonymity
She is shakin' out static anonymity
Anonymity (shalalala)
Anonymity (shalalala)
Anonymity (shalalala)
Anonymity (shalalala)
She is shakin' out static anonymity
She is shakin' out static anonymity
Anonymity (shalalala)

I think its about a break up. "why do you leave me in between siamese cities". It could also be about a decision she's left with that she can't make the siamese cities could symbolize the choices she has.

oh thank you i was not aware. now that i look back at it i think it may be an Elliott Smith reference whom emily has expressed her adoration for. the song i'm referring to is Baby Britain, the lines are: The light was on but it was dim Revolver's been turned over And now it's ready once again The radio was playing "Crimson and Clover" London Bridge is safe and sound No matter what you keep repeating Nothing's going to drag me down To a death that's not worth cheating

I think it's about the end of a relationship. She's knows it's over but still debating if she should go see the person again because she doesn't want it to be over.

I think that's why she says "Why do you leave me in between siamese cities?" because her mind is going back and forth between the two options(stay or go).

I always thought the Siamese cities may be referring to Manhattan(since she references Little Italy) and Brooklyn. The two cities are connected to each other by two bridges, multiple subway paths and a tunnel.

I love this song. I wish Metic played it live still.
