i think this song is about a person who at once made the lead singer feel vulnerable and desperate all the time.. soon, they switch positions and they are "shaking, chilled and weak"..
"the bed that you made for me used to put me right to sleep but now i lie awake slowly devising this speech"
those lines could mean that whatever that person used to do to the singer to make them feel as desperate as they did will not work anymore.. and that the singer is finally 'awake' and thinking of exactly what to say to let the person know their plans have failed..
anyways that's just my take.. for all i know, this song could mean nothing. still great though
