Lornaderek Lyrics
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday dear Richard,
Happy birthday to you.
Hah-hah-hah.
Happy birthday my little son - my little 28-year-old son!
Well, you were born by now, because you were born about five o'clock in the morning.
Er... ??? you'll have a lovely day. I hope your card came.
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday dear Richard,
Happy birthday to you.
Hah-hah-hah.

i don't listen to this one on it's own, but i love hearing it when listening to the whole cd because it comes in between two very good slower songs on the cd, Btoum-Roumada and my favorite Penty Harmomium. Listening to it in context of the other songs makes me think of a lonely 28 year old man who get's little else for his birthday besides this card and message from his parents. He might laugh at the same time knowing it's sad.
A birthday greeting from his parents Lorna and Derek: Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday dear Richard, Happy birthday to you. Hah-hah-hah. Happy birthday my little son - my little 28-year-old son! Well, you were born by now, because you were born about five o'clock in the morning. Er... we both hope you'll have a lovely day. I hope your card came.
My family just called me on my 28th birthday and sang me happy birthday and afterwards I immediately thought of this song. I listened to it a few times and realized that the said 28 years old as well. I wish I had it recorded also.
Wow, I never thought of it like that, cerealiscool. I've rarely listened to the album as a whole because of how experimental it is--I take my half and leave the rest. I've taken a personal liking to Btoum-Roumada so it means something completely different to me, but it does sound as though it could signify his dull and almost depressing existance at times. The high note at the end is him thinking "It's my birthday, right?", followed by this song. Penty Harmonium is the subsequent birthday, which, as you can tell, turns out to be quite sad.
