This song totally rox!i it'so damn cool!!! And i think that is basically about this guy,who was broken hearted and can't stand no more this promisses that are made,but never for real...
I think the song's about the singer's first true love. It sounds like she left him completely heart broken and he's "never been so alone" before. Looks like they had the whole "commitment" thing going on "and now i'm left with broken promises". They vowed for forever and she took that away from him and all he does is hurt over it but he's saying that he can't handle the pain anymore, so he's going to move on.
this song is great... maybe about when his first love left him and for the first time he was alone.. and it keeps tearing him apart whenever he sees his EX-GF..

I first heard this song on Need For Speed: Underground, and fell in love with it ever since.
My ex girlfriend broke up with me to be with another guy. A few months later she came back to me. I took the bait and accepted her back.. well a few days later she says she still has feelings for the other guy. We went through the same cycle again even after she told me she knew she really wanted me this time. I've had it with this bullshit and these broken promises.
@FeLKoN been trhough the same sh*t way too many times. i will keep on going, al though all these broken promisis. cause some day somewhere there is going to be someone. i hope she can handle all the love i have in store hehe if ya guys know what i mean. single my whole life 24 years old. i manage, but its not awesome. haha. anyway, enjoy life dont stress be happy, for youre own sake :) peace out.

OMG, I love this song so so much! It really reminds me of my situation... Everything is just so true!
Could this be about a broken marriage? I know most seem to think it is about simply a loved one leaving him, but consider that when you wed you make a promise to each other (your vows). Obviously the narrator had strong emotions for their partner (again which suggests may have been more than simply a crush / girlfriend) and that by them leaving him they have "broken promises" to be together for each other.
