Shrug Lyrics

What is this weariness that waits for you?
Shrug
You press your ankle against my arm
This is the pressure that I love
You always recommended it

It could be the door
Could be the phone
For any intent or purpose
You're not home
You're up against the wall
No real impression like breath on glass

I've got the apple in me too
People are bluer than they ever imagined they might be
Looking through the boxes in the basement
Who were you then?
Your restlessness is emptier than the room we used to lived in
Here's wishing you the best
The rest is always better left unsaid

I have... no idea what this song is about or referring to (aside from some of the more obvious lines). But I love it.

i cant figure out what it means. but i really love the "no impression like breath on glass" line. its so delicate and pretty. i love the jam at the end of this song. if only i new what it meant.

I sense something interestingly distorted or off kilter about this song. Strangely enough the song rings clean-toned while the singer does his part; The music only seems to get “weird” after the fact. I’m trying to match the clean toned “distorted” lyrics with the later “strange part” (which happens to have no lyrics) Something fragmented here, me thinks.

hmmm…perhaps a listen to the whole album would aid my understanding.

...but Im to lazy. "Needing to leave things unsaid." Why? Perhaps it enables you to abondon your self in to something you don't want to be. When somebody else trigers you you can act like an oaf or a fool. They don't know what they've done but you do. So their perception is going to seem mar'd in your perspective, if you go back and look at it. When you go back you tear up parts of you. Parts of the self that you were trying to bild. It matters. Perhaps it matters a lot. But you have to let it go. That is what the "wierd" part sounds like to me. It is an emotional strain, the muddled, frizzled mind affect, that occurs when you go down a road that maybe you shouldn't go down.
