This Time Lyrics
Unsure of yourself
You stand divided now
Which hole will lead you there?
Last time you fell and you hit hard
Your wounds have healed by now
But you still see your scars yeah
But it's not the way it use to be right now
You come so far to just let this go my friend
Don't go out the same way you did the last time
You'll break when you fall
Don't make the same mistakes you did all over
You've got to believe in yourself this time
Live on
Live it up today
This life's your cup
So drink it up I say, yeah
Say it's mine so give it all up to me now
And walk that line
Don't let this go my friend
Don't go out the same way you did the last time
You'll break when you fall
Don't make the same mistakes you did all over
You've got to believe in yourself this time
This time
Life's your cup, life's your cup
Drink it up
Life's your cup, life's your cup
The same way you did the last time
You'll break when you fall
Don't make the same mistakes you did all over

well, first of all, this song has so much meaning and memory attached to it. the first time i heard it was last year in october or november. the cd finished, but i was doing homework, so i didn't take note. and then i stopped dead. i heard notes that were so beautiful and amazing i thought there was an angel in the room singing. and the first thought that came to mind was "why the hell is this track hidden?" it's the best one on the cd and it's so emotional. in the following weeks, the boy i was in love with had a running joke that he was going to commit suicide. he never did, but everytime i heard this song, it reminded me of him and if i sang along with it, it felt like i was talking him out of it. to be honest, he was a stupid jock that got everything he wanted and eventually moved far away, giving me hell in the process. (we never went out.) but other things have happened to me when i was listening to the song and it's taken on an entirely new meaning now. the new meaning is a little raw, but that's what the song is. it's so raw. this, ladies and gentlemen, is the best of three doors down.
I discovered this track almost the exact same way, and had a pretty much identical reaction

First, I would like to say how proud I was to finally discover this track on the CD. It was one of those great discoveries that occurs because you are lazy (and don't shut off your cd player when the cd finishes)
The song is vague. I don't think they intended a certain meaning for it. It just about someone who has made mistakes and then moved on, but they are now headed for the same road they were headed down before.
Perhaps a recovering alcoholic?
This song sounds beautiful, obviously sung from the heart, Purhaps it's about someone needing a hand to stand up and be happy/statble with themselves. Good tune though.
To me this song is about the situation between two friends, perhaps Christian, where one has slowly lost faith. The other friend has witnessed his friend come from a life full of sin to a better one with Jesus, and now he is watching that same friend be tempted with the same things over again. The faithful friend states that "its not the way it used to be" and he pleads with the other not to fall back down and make the same mistakes all over and that if he just believes in himself that he can make it through.
I believe this song is definately spoken from experience.
to me i think the topic/character, is someone who is double minded(not really believing in path), because if your divided then you're not united in one cause. and if you are in favor of both path, then you're stuck having to decide which ONE path to follow. The references to "Fell and hit hard", and "Your wounds are healed, by now, but you still have your scars", have to be about someones huge drug addiction, because when you comedown off the high, there's a "crash", or "fall of the wagon". The charcter in the song is clean...

The references to "Fell and hit hard", and "Your wounds are healed, by now, but you still have your scars", have to be about someones huge drug addiction, because when you comedown off the high, there's a "crash", or "fall of the wagon". The charcter in the song is clean for the time being and doesn't have any urges to take the drugs, hence; "Your wounds are healed". "You still have your scars", probably reference the experience on the drug, on him psychological, relations, any traumatic events, remember if the charcter was on a psychotropic drug for a while he will hallucinate, and reality may be altered, so if events were traumatic, it will stay with him for the rest of his life, like "scars" do. Maybe the Character has a low self-esteem, "believe" in yourself, also "walk that line" means to not stray from going forward having a goal and plan and not deviating from it. Relapsing again, will hurt his current path, but this future one especially if he was really addicted to to the drug. Anyway 3 doors down are awesome and one of my favorite bands.
I love this song. It's so beautiful. It is quite vague, but that's good as it means it's open to interpretation and it can fit whatever meaning you want it too. To me it's about learning from your mistakes and not letting them happen again. It seems he's singing it to someone else though, a close friend or something.
At least once in your life, you will love someone, and after the relationship is over, you will look back and beat yourself up over all the mistakes you made. You will blame yourself for the bad breakup. (I shouldn't have treated him/her like that, I should have controlled my temper, I should have respected his/her needs, etc.)
To me, this song says to go for love again, but don't screw it up. Example: "When you fall, don't make the same mistakes..."
Could this possibly be about someone who had a drinking problem...? I know the whole lines about "life's your cup so drink it up" could be interpreted many ways, but if you think about it, it could be. But I agree with whoever said this song was vague. I think it's meant to be, so each listener can find their own meaning.
I'm with raebites on this one. My interpretation is that maybe this person suffered from really low self esteem, and saying stuff like "You deserve better" etc. and by doing this also manages to hurt the loved one, causing them to break up. Atleast that's my interpretation of the chorus.
this song has the best lyrics ever! "Don't go out the same way you did the last time You'll break when you fall Don't make the same mistakes you did all over You've got to believe in yourself this time" my favorite part!
It's personal, and honestly the best track I've heard of this nature. Nothing hidden or unexplainable or unfeelable. I got that "I'm going to need to hear this again" feeling before the first verse was over.
