Dangerous Game Lyrics
You stand before me now we stare eye to eye
Before another second clicks away one of us will die.
You reach for your metal as I reach for mine
The sound of bullets flyin' through the air, is followed by a cry
And they're cryin'
What will we do? What will we say?
When it's the end of this game that we play?
Will we crumble into the dust my friend?
Or will we start this game over again?
The young man lays alone but fastened to the ground
The sounds of fleeting feet and a cryin' eye will be his last sound.
What did we gain fron all of this? Now was it worth a life?
We've thrown all our hopes away and set our dreams aside
Now we're cryin'
What will we do? What will we say?
When it's the end of this game that we play?
Will we crumble into the dust my friend?
Or will we start this game over again?
It's coming back to me. It's coming back to me.
What will we do? What will we say?
When it's the end of this game that we play?
Will we crumble into the dust my friend?
Or will we start this game over again?
Before another second clicks away one of us will die.

It's obviously about a gunfight on the surface, and while it could symbolize life, I see it more as symbolizing pride. If someone challenges you to duel, you'd be a coward to back down. So you play this game, which isn't worth it because lives are on the line. In other words, don't do something stupid just to save face.
I'm not exactly positive but i think this song has to deal with fighting between two people...like i said not sure but most likely i think that's what it's about...good song.
this song sounds like an old fashioned duel, like when you face back to back and turn and shoot type thing, but without giving too much of a history lesson, they use to be a certain distance from each other and the challanger always shot second and the person challanged shot first, so this song fits with the whole "You stand before me now we stare eye to eye" if you were wondering
The devestating effects of violence that leads to death.
"What will we do? What will we say? When it's the end of this game that we play? Will we crumble into the dust my friend? Or will we start this game over again?"
I think the singer is talking about life. "When it's the end of this game that we play" like when we die..will we just turn into dust, or will we be reincarnated? Like what will happen to us?
I think E - Double was right. This song was about a gunfight. My evidence: "Before another second clicks away, one of us will die." - High noon, the moment of truth, and one of them will be dead in a momet's time. "You reach for your metal as I reach for mine" - reaching for the guns they wear. "The sound of bullets flying through the air is followed by a cry" - Gunshots, one man dies, someone who knew him wails with grief. "Will we crumble into the dust my friend? Or will we start this game over again?" - Only one of them can leave alive, probably to fight again - the other will fall to the dusty road. "The young man lays alone, but fastened to the ground" - Dead in the street after losing the fight.
Yep it's about a western gun duel and someone dies. The same game will repeat itself (meaning more people will die) unless they stop... but will they?
I agree that it stemmed from a wester gun duel, but i absolutely do not think thats what the song is about. He uses symbolism and thats why he's talking about a gun fight. The "game" that they play may be lying to each other or trying to hurt each other, whereas in when he says "what will we do? what will we say when it's the end of this game that we play? will we crumble into the dust my friend or will we start this game over again?" he's saying basically "when this fight is over, what will happen to us?" like, will they make up or not or will they just start the whole cycle over again? It's about focusing on the wrong things-- hence the 2nd verse about gaining something and losing a life (life = friend)
definately think it's symbolic of life, and the way we "play" or treat life as a game, or some of us do. excellent song, after all these years still a favourite :$
The 'duel' imagery in this song represents the split second desicion person has to make in life. For example between two friends the first to act will win and will excel in life whereas the person who gets shot dies off and becomes a nothing. I think the song is just about the cruelity of life highlighted by the vivid imagery.
