Coma Girl Lyrics
I was crawling through a festival way out west
I was thinking about love and the acid test
at first I got real dizzy with a real rockin' gang
and then I saw the coma girl on the excitement gang
and the rain came in from the wide blue yonder
and through all the stages I wandered
Coma girl on the excitement gang
she's the Mona Lisa on a motorcycle gang
coma girl, coma girl
The coma girl was beating with the oildrum gang
and some fast-food fanatic was burning down a burger van
and somebody was wailing off their head
oh nobody is rippin' the teen scene dead
and the rain came in from the wide blue yonder
and I thought you and me might wander...
Coma girl on the excitement gang
Mona Lisa on a motorcycle gang
Coma girl
Coma girl on a motorcycle gang
as the nineteenth hour was falling upon desolation row
some outlaw band had the last drop on the go
let's siphon up some gas!!! let's get this show on the road!!!
said the coma girl to the excitement gang
& into action everybody sprang
and the oildrums were beating out doo-lang doo-lang
Coma girl on the excitement gang
Mona Lisa on a motorcycle gang
Coma girl (doo-lang doo-lang)
Coma girl (doo-lang doo-lang)
*doo lang*s & *B.V.s*
Heyyo, yo let it roll!
I was thinking about love and the acid test
at first I got real dizzy with a real rockin' gang
and then I saw the coma girl on the excitement gang
and through all the stages I wandered
she's the Mona Lisa on a motorcycle gang
coma girl, coma girl
and some fast-food fanatic was burning down a burger van
and somebody was wailing off their head
oh nobody is rippin' the teen scene dead
and I thought you and me might wander...
Mona Lisa on a motorcycle gang
Coma girl
Coma girl on a motorcycle gang
some outlaw band had the last drop on the go
let's siphon up some gas!!! let's get this show on the road!!!
said the coma girl to the excitement gang
and the oildrums were beating out doo-lang doo-lang
Mona Lisa on a motorcycle gang
Coma girl (doo-lang doo-lang)

Great song.
Festival way out west, burger van, rain coming in from the wide blue yonder - this song is blatantly about Glastonbury - which Strummer was a huge fan of and where the great man is remembered with the Strummerville campfire. And of course Bruce Springsteen opened his set at the 2009 Glastonbury Festival with a cover of this song, a tribute to Joe.
I just downloaded a bunch of Strummer and the Mescaleros and got this supbereb. Even unfinished it is really good as wiki said completes with Clash stuff Joe was an amazing man. He is one of few peoples who can bring me to tears almost but still only a couple of things Joe been one have brought me anywhere near tears. He was awesome inspiring RIP Joe. Just thought i'ld put out a tribute and some respects to a hero :).
The song is written by joe for his daughter, It is about the Glastonbury Festival.
I like the song, though I haven't quite figured out what he meant by "Coma Girl." I think that she was just very serene and peaceful looking, like someone in a coma. That might make sense, as well as the relation to line about Mona Lisa.
The first time I had this song I actually cried...Never has a song had that effect on me before. I don't know what brought it on but Joe was a great man..R.I.P \m/
I remember when a journalist said that joe strummer was in his aging gracefully stage like johnny cash, neil young and tom waits. It seems like joe's life was cut too short, this song shows that he aged gracefully into many genres like the other artists, but still kept a young spirit inside of himself, punk might have died out, but not inside joe strummer
@jbravo23 amen.

its a great song, i certainly dont cry over it though, damn people, its a happy song. Joe was a humble man, i met on two occasions ins america, and i dont think he would want people crying over his music. he wanted music to be enjoyed and to be loved, not to be thought of as a sad reminder of someones passing. if you've seen his dvd he did, its all about how he just wants his record to break even so he can keep making more music, and he travels the world to make it happen, its a great film.
i remember reading an old interview were Joe mentioned that amid all the goings on at Glastonbury he noticed his daughter fast asleep , hence Coma Girl
Indeed. Great song, so up-beat. Perfect for Spring, good songwriting, melody. God bless Joe Strummer.
chuckles? uh, no.
