(One, two, a one, two, three K)

I'm gonna go out dancin' every night
I'm gonna see all the city lights
I'll do everything silver and gold
I got to hurry up before I grow too old

I'm gonna take a trip around the world
I'm gonna kiss all the pretty girls
I'll do everything silver and gold
And I got to hurry up before I grow too old

Oh, I do a lot of things, I know is wrong
Hope I'm forgiven before I'm gone
It'll take a lot of prayers to save my soul
And I got to hurry up before I grow too old

I'm gonna take a trip around the world
Gonna kiss all the pretty girls
Who do everything silver and gold
And I got to hurry up before I grow too old (wee-oh)

Hey, I'm gonna go out dancin' every night
I'm gonna see all your city lights
I'm gonna do everything silver and gold
And I got to hurry up before I grow too old (yee)

(Ok, that's a take)

I wish people would stop crying over joe strummer, ive met him on two occasions in america, he was a great person with an incredible passion for music and life. Some of you make it sound like he knew it was coming in the near future or that he wanted to happen, neither of which is true. So geet your facts straight or think about some more before saying how much you love something. And I will tell you right now, he would not want people crying over him, i did when it happened, of course, but everytime i hear, no, when i think of joe strummer, i think of what a great guy he was, the first time i met him he says he told me, he was amazed at how tall I am, and that he was jealous of my long fingers, because he always had a hard time with his small fingers. I told him he could have because he would be much more productive with them than I am. He laughed, than told me a story about a concert he did in brixton, was so cool to meet him. I met him two years later, and you know what, he remembered my name. That is the kind of person Joe Strummer was.

A heartbreaking way of ending Joe Strummer's last album, but shows just how unexpect his death way. It has been nearly two years since he passed away, but the feeling of loss is still there. Thanks for so much great music Joe.

'Thats a take' - I agree with the last poster. It's heartbreakingly beautiful and so characteristic of Joe (even though it isn't his song). Gives the same sense of closure as Marley's 'Redemption Song' which was the last song on his album which ironically is included as a cover on Streetcore.

Yes.. Very sad, almost brings a tear each time I hear it and think of Joe. Such a great human being, betcha he's drinkin some brew for breakfast with the other greats right now.

I swear, it's almost as if he knew the end is near. Hell, I'm crying as I write this. I see the song like this: he's done so much for so many people, but now it's time for him to get a little back from the world. His music has changed my life, as I'm sure it has for others. Now I think he wanted to relax and enjoy the fruits of his labor, but we'll never know if he really did. R.I.P.

I can't listen to this song without crying. I can't even think of him without crying. His death has hit me so hard, you'd think I was related to him or something. His music was, and is, a catalyst in my life, helped me define who I am and who I want to become. Corny, I know, but if you're into The Clash and into Joe, then you know what I'm talking about.

punkrock142 is right, I'm sick of hearing others crap on about how every joe strummer song makes them cry. I understand his songs are sung with a lot of emotion but for gods sake pull yourself together. That's not what he wanted. You should be celebrating the man and his music. Go out there and try to change the world for the better, like he did.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

When We Were Young

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
