The song may be about sex. However, Big Eyed Beans are not boobs. Big Eyed Beans is a wordplay variant on 'Bug Eyed Beings' i.e. Aliens. he was a big fan of a pun, old Beefy.

This song has, without doubt, the best guitar work you'll ever hear on record. It's delta blues from another dimension,a nd if you don't dance you're probably dead inside.

Songs rings with a desire for alien abduction. Beefheart isn't really about lyrics- they're more like background dadaist poetry, but goddman if he doesn't pull out some great lines and phrases.

I think this is a love song, believe it or not. A simple, really great love song. The Big Eyed Bean is not from Venus by accident. It is a symbol - a strange symbol granted - for love.

"Don't let anything get in between us" ... what a great line. It's so easy sometimes for outside forces to break apart couples. Anyhow , just my two cents on this one and I wholeheartedly agree about the guitar work ... just killer.

Oh yeah, and that part where he goes "you can be on the right track woman - of course, of course" ... so cool. It makes me smile every time. He was so cool, in such a strange kind of way .. Let's hear it for the Captain!

how could this song be about anything else except a tribute to, as the captain's friend frank would say, "mammalian protruberances?" what else would a big eyed bean from venus be? and yes he mentions women needing them too...but there're plenty of women who like breasts as well. this came from an album that had all kinds of sexual references, and it's not tacky, it's very very cool. nothing like a nice pair of breasts to get you through the worstest of times.

It is about love that comes from outside. He is right to think that love is like a third thing, a big eyed bean, an alien or the mother\'s breast, that brings peace - earth people just have to let it in. Love doesn\'t grow out of what people are and what a good "match" their characteristics are (not even helpful at times), it has an existence of its own and changes altogether who one was before it came.
