Breaking Away Lyrics
Just between
You and me
I don't know what I'm doing here
In your room
Close to you
Full of shit and free beer
My brother the bartender
I tip him well and I drink for free
He takes good care of me
He takes care of me
Anyway I'm here
I'm a bicycle
I'm too tired to ride home
If it's okay with you
Can I take off these shoes?
And stay the night
Just between
You and me
This thing between you and me
Might not be anything worth singing about
Or it might be just what I need
Someone to take my mind off things
At the end of a long day
Someone to take my pants off me
At the end of a long night
Either way we're here
We're 2 bicycles ridden
Too tired to move
Which one of us two
Is dumb enough to choose
The other as a lover
You and me
I don't know what I'm doing here
In your room
Full of shit and free beer
My brother the bartender
I tip him well and I drink for free
He takes care of me
Anyway I'm here
I'm a bicycle
If it's okay with you
Can I take off these shoes?
And stay the night
You and me
This thing between you and me
Might not be anything worth singing about
Or it might be just what I need
At the end of a long day
Someone to take my pants off me
At the end of a long night
Either way we're here
Too tired to move
Which one of us two
Is dumb enough to choose
The other as a lover

two corrections..
'My brother, the bartender"
and
"I'm a bicycle. I'm tired to ride home."
i'm too* tired
sorry.
mike's lyrics are very much eiether about him or someone he knows. this song is very much about him though. the line 'my brother, the bartender, i tip him well and i drink for free. he takes good care of me. he takes care of me..' is incredibly sweet and sung sweetly and is made even more sweet when you realize that it is a reference to no one other than Mike's brother, Tim Kinsella, who bartends, when he isn't touring, at Chicago's Rainbo Bar.
amazing song.
"I'm a bicycle I'm too(two) tired to ride home"
One of the most amazing lines I've seen in a song. Great play on words too.
Apparently the song's about a one night stand--- but he's drunk so he actually thinks there is a shred of feeling for the other person.
Good catch on the Tim reference, whoever posted above me.
I think it is about a one night stand, but i think he begins to want it to be more than that. i think here hes 'breaking away' from that life into one where hes with someone he loves, and gets something out of it. i get that feeling from those two lines, 'some to take my mind/pants off...' ..amazing song.
yeah it has to deal with a girl i think that he has either just met or knows but isn't entirely sure about the situation or the relationship. he's just content in the fact there is someone there to do things that he doesnt want to do alone "take his pants off". and yes that is a reference to tim kinsella, a man i adore so much. his music is incredible. both mike and tim are amazing. great song. great lyrics. just amazing.
this one is haunting live. please go catch him on his latest tour
When he plays it drunk, he says "Check out this line guys... I'm a bicycle, I'm TWO tired to ride home." And then laughs.
