This song, to me, is about two people who went looking deeper into their relationship and found that it could never work. They decide to move on but the speaker doesn't want to be forgotten. I

t's like the speaker is saying, "I'm in your past. Move on, but don't forget about what we had."

The line "Turn your head up to the sky, nothing down below but me. Face the truth to realize, all that we could be" I interpret to mean that the speaker thinks they could be great individually. That they shouldn't let their past commitments to each other hold them back from doing something better.
