Whiter Shade of Pale (Procol Harum cover) Lyrics
We skipped the light fandango
And turned cartwheels across the floor
Yeah, I was feeling kind of seasick
But the crowd called out for more, yeah, oh yeah
And the room was humming harder
And as the ceiling flew away
We called out for another drink, oh yeah
The waiter brought the tray
And so it was that later, yeah
As the miller told his tale
That her face at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale
She said there is no reason
And the truth is plain to see
But I wandered through my playing cards
And I would not let her be, oh, oh yeah
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And oh, and my eyes were open
They might just as well have been closed
And so it was that later, oh
As the miller told his tale
That her face at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale, oh yeah
Oh, and so it was, yeah, oh later
The miller told his tale
Yeah her face was kinda ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale, oh yeah
And turned cartwheels across the floor
Yeah, I was feeling kind of seasick
But the crowd called out for more, yeah, oh yeah
And the room was humming harder
And as the ceiling flew away
We called out for another drink, oh yeah
The waiter brought the tray
As the miller told his tale
That her face at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale
And the truth is plain to see
But I wandered through my playing cards
And I would not let her be, oh, oh yeah
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And oh, and my eyes were open
They might just as well have been closed
As the miller told his tale
That her face at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale, oh yeah
The miller told his tale
Yeah her face was kinda ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale, oh yeah

Ahh! I can not believe nobody has commented on this, what a beautiful song, it dares grown men not to cry, makes me feel a bit ill though.
Beautiful song. The sound from the piano is awesome, I like the parts where there is no singing.
I hope all of you know that this is a Procol Harum cover. if you havent heard the original you should listen to it.
It dares a grown man to cry?
Great song, been covered by others, willie nelson did a cover also.
The orignal by Procol Harum is great. there are websites dedicated to this one song and discussions of its possible meanings. Some say it is about the sinking of the Titanic.
I think it is about people just partying themselves to death and drinking and using drugs to ignore their problems, some suggest it was written about a women he forced himself upon and possibly raped.
