i think this song is about sex in some way.....like.."shes got a brand new white canvas on her face for me to splatter with paintshes got nothing more that what was left running down her throat..." im not sure though?
his paint hes splattering is sperm...so is what is running down her throat....

I think that the song has something to do with sex, but i'm not sure about splattering sperm on someone's face. lol. It is possible, though, but I think he means that their relationship was based on sex, therefore "The best of us was left in your sheets." I saw the splattering paint line as more of an angry 'I'm going to kill you by splattering your own blood on your face' kind of thing.

The video for the song would seem to support the blood theory. If you also go by the video, perhaps white canvas = a white face from death. So yeah, if you take a look at the video, you could look at the lyrics being directly interrepted on screen. I think the song probably has some deeper connotatoions about a love itself dying.
I think the song is definitely about a relationship based on sex ["the best of us was left in your sheets".] But I think perhaps she cheated?.. ["the truth's sometimes so hard to see, in my passive uncertainty."] and he wishes to kill her. To me the "brand new white canvas on her face" is a white sheet placed over her dead body.
