You Raise Me Up Lyrics

When I am down and, Oh my soul so weary, when troubles come and my heart burdened be. Then I am still and wait here in the silence, until you come and sit a while with me.

Chorus (x4): You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains. You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas. I am strong when I am on your shoulders. You raise me up, to more than I can be.

You raise me up, to more than I can be.

I love this song, it's one of my dad and his friend's favorites, and after hearing it on American Idol (lol yeah I know) I downloaded it and now I love it. It reminds me of my dad, so that's another reason I love it. It also reminds me of my girlfriend, God bless her.

I'm not a big Josh Groban fan either, nor am I a big fan of this genre of music. However, I think this is one of the most well-sung songs in musical history and I'm being completely honest.

One of the few songs I can say are absolutely beautiful. I always cringe when American Idol (I am a fan. I know, laugh at me, lol) contestant tries to sing this song. Even the really good ones. You just can't do it like Josh can. Several have come close, but the song itself is so BIG in terms of how it's originally sang, that I don't know if any amateur can hold a candle to it.

Again, beautiful song.

I agree with you GrtOne41. Nobody can sing it like Josh Groban can. And when he sings it, he sounds so sincere, as if the words come straight from his heart. It's awesome. I really like the fact that this song can mean different things and touch people in many different ways. More then just one. It could be a religious song to someone. About how God makes us stronger, and better. He makes us who we are, and who we can be. Or it could be about someone who "lifts us up" especially when we are down. It's amazing!! :-D

this song is so amazing. I put this song on my mp3 player for when i went on my trip to Europe. I remember one of the times we were in the bus, everyone was sleeping, other than myself and i was listening to music. It just so happened that This song came on shuffle. I remember we were driving along a road almost completely covered over in tress (in scotland) and then right when we came out into the clearing, there were huge mountains, a clear blue sky and a lake under the mountains, at the exact time in the song it said "You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains." It was so amazing, and so inspiraring. I think this song is about someone who is behind someone no matter what and gives them the strength to do almost anything.
