Child In You Lyrics
Talk about it
You dream about it
You feel that there's no place left to glow
Operatics, break the habits
You feel that there's no place left to grow
You gotta reach inside yourself and let it go
(Chorus)
Close your eyes and drift away to some place new
Where the skies are blue brings back the child in you
Cross a lonely field as birds begin to speak
Its alright
Its ok
Blue, true
Blue, true
Cry about it shout about it
You feel that there's no sense in going on
Late november, change in weather
The cold has got a hold of you again
That river's gonna drag you down again
(Chorus)
Close your eyes and drift away to someplace new
Where the skies are blue brings back the child in you
Cross a lonely field as birds begin to speak
It's alright
Its ok
Its alright
Blue
Nothing was stopping you
Nothing was stopping you
Nothing was stopping blue
Blue, true, blue, true, miss you
Child in you
You dream about it
You feel that there's no place left to glow
Operatics, break the habits
You feel that there's no place left to grow
You gotta reach inside yourself and let it go
Where the skies are blue brings back the child in you
Cross a lonely field as birds begin to speak
Its ok
Blue, true
You feel that there's no sense in going on
Late november, change in weather
The cold has got a hold of you again
That river's gonna drag you down again
Where the skies are blue brings back the child in you
Cross a lonely field as birds begin to speak
Its ok
Its alright
Blue
Nothing was stopping you
Nothing was stopping blue

I've always thought this song was about Jon (its on the Comfort in Sound album which was the first album Feeder released after Jon's death), though this has been denied by Grant (not directly).
Anyway, I think this song is about recovery. You think you can't get over something, it gets you in your sleep and your dreams, it breaks your life, and the only way to get over it is close your eyes, look inside yourself and bring back the happiness of the child within you. This is my personal feeling on this one :)
@Burkey just listen to Grant in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGJkNiREfJ8 at 27 min. talking about how 'Child In You' is the only song on the album he clearly remembers writing with 'Jon on his shoulder'

Another thing I want to say that I love about this song is the contrasting moods of the chords with the lyrics. The verse, which has the lyrics of despair and loss, is distinctly dark and moody, whereas the chorus has a more uplifting feel, echoed both through the words and the music.
FEEDER rock!! :D
I think that this song is about Jon "Nothing was stopping you" it is talking to Jon saying that nothing was stopping him commiting suicide. It is a great song and very relaxing to listen to.
hmm i remember Grant being interviewed in 2005(?) Where he said, that most of the songs on comfort in sound were completed before jon commited suicide and pushing the senses is the album where he refers a lot to jon..but maybe i'm wrong :|
This song means a lot to me..it somehow helps me to relax..i listen to it in the car i lot...:p

He also says that it was Come Back Around and Godzilla that had been written and rehearsed with Jon on drums before the album.

I think its about Jon, as much of the Comfort In Sound album appears to be. 'you feel theres no sense in going on' seems overtly to be about he must heave felt. I think it is also pondering Jon in the afterlife 'close your eyes and drift away to someplace new. Where the skies are blue, brings back the child in you'.
